For all those complaining about fan support at home games

It should be realized by now it's not a single factor but many contributing to the problem. I'm just going to list some of my observations based on what I've seen going to the games compared to when I was younger to now.
-LSU has actively did everything they can to kill the tailgate scene it's nowhere near what it use to be and they probably don't care if anyone ever shows up for a tailgate again
-Technology has played a large part in why people stay home with the media contracts and just watch the game on TV which also is from other contributing factors I'll mention
-Traffic of course
-You're currently in the worst economic state in the country right now in heavily inflation. Louisiana is dead last or right at the bottom in most categories economically which will lead me to another point.
-LSU has priced out any blue collar fans. It has a very corporate atmosphere now I think we can all agree on this one. It's definitely not like it use to be 15 years ago even after inflation factored in.
-Success. Yes, a big one here since obviously alongside the corporate feel above to make money it's going to bring plenty of fairweather fans in.
-top 10 crime numbers around the BR area in the country for larger cities per capita
-Lots of migration out of the state which probably impacts fan support a little. one of the few states actually losing population.
-the admin seems to be completely out of touch on what fans want to see in and around the stadium or they just don't care. they've at least recently attempted to change some things like the concessions so that's something I guess
I'm sure there's plenty more I'm missing but this is just off the top of my head. I know we going to get 50 bitching threads about the fan support yesterday but this is just the cold hard truth -- it probably will never be like it was in the past not even close. I may be in the minority here but I feel like Death Valley is way overbuilt for what the fan support these days can provide. Downvote away.

I read this post in the same spot on my couch I’ll watch the next game and the next. It’s comfy.

This is the only reason my family wasn’t at the game.

It's up 35% which is just short on New Orleans at 40% which is the highest increase in the country. The other one was New York which was half New Orleans at 20% increase. I'd say BR isn't doing good crime wise even though it's up in all cities probably due to economic factors.
That likely plays into less people feel it's worth wasting their time going to a game when LSU has actively did what they can to make tailgating miserable before the games.

I’ve been to nearly every home game from age 18-29. Now that I’m 30 my viewing experience has change and I even live 10 mins from campus. Went to the fsu game but not a single home game. I just don’t have the drive in me to get to campus 5 hours before a game then wait 2 hours in traffic after the game. A lot of people in my age group are feeling the same
A lot of it has to do with people my age group saving money for weddings, homes, kids, etc. ticket prices get higher ever year

I remember sitting in the stadium in the 90s and thought they were expanding too much.

They also somehow make the traffic situation worse every year too. The Southern game was an absolute clusterfrick

Traffic
Tailgate scene is obnoxious and nothing I care to be around.
Tv with friends is a better viewing experience.
Sorry LSU. It’s meant to be enjoyable entertainment. If that’s not enough “support”, you will need to do better to get me back on campus.

It’s not just us but everywhere.

This is what’s causing this

When they closed off campus and herded everyone over to Nicholson, there simply aren’t enough roads to handle the people. Not to mention tailgating in fields and alongside Nicholson doesn’t have the same appeal as “under stately oaks and arches.”
If they want to fix it, stop monetizing everything and open campus back up and let people come enjoy the experience.

This leads into what I think is the biggest factor.
It was always hard to keep the recent grads coming to games, but I think it is dramatically harder. People don't want to sit in the upper decks. That is clear with how many seats are empty every game.
So you have the long-time football fans who have come to every game for X years. And then you have the corporate tickets on the sidelines.

Why not this. My friend got his grill stolen while we were in the game. RAntards said “crime dummy”.
No you say nope no crime.

True to an extent but it's much worse at LSU. If you just look around other venues in the SEC they will support their teams much better than LSU does. The only time LSU gets support from their fans is when it's a special circumstance. You couldn't even fill the stadium yesterday against the #7 team in the country after just having a record setting performance against Florida on the road. Do you see the fAggies not supporting their team as bad as they are?

We’re you there yesterday? It was rocking campus wide.

I see other stadiums packed. Just candy arse fair weather fans. I see the between the 20’s seats thin. You may have some solid points but for big games no. Putting up with minor inconvenience is a snow flake thing. To see a big game in person is unforgettable. But, it is the fans themselves that make Death Valley. With out them we are just run of the mill.

We stayed the entire game. Parked in lot 407. I was home with 30 minutes of getting in my car. Traffic is better at least for me going north on RR.
I have had season tickets for most of my adult life. My son who is 15 now has been going with me since he was 8. We have been on road trips to Dallas(TCU), Wisconsin, Tennessee, Atlanta for SECCG, and CFB natty game. He loves LSU and I wouldn’t trade those memories for all tge gold in Fort Knox. People need to quit making excuses for not going to games.
Yesterday was as much fun as almost any games in 2019 except Florida. Not every game is a blast but what is guaranteed in life? Quit acting like a pussy and go to the games or shut up about why you can’t fricking go. I have had 2 spinal fusion and degenerative disk disease and make it.

This is a HUGE part of it. It used to be packed around Stadium but nobody is hardly even in the West Side Stadium LOT.
