How hard is it to change one light switch to three.

We are finishing our new house and due to a miscommunication the electrician put all of the lights and fan in the bathrooms on a single switch. What we wanted was three switches on one panel.
This seems like an easy fix no??

doubtful he ran separate wires for each back to the switch. He would have ran one set of wire and daisy chained them.

If the walls are closed in it is not simple. You ha e to fish new wires to the aeparat fixtures from the existing switch.
I have done this myself before put it required me to cut access points into the sheetrock to grab the wire.

Not likely as easy as you think if you have sheetrock up. Just tell your contractor to have the electrician change it. You'll need your sheetrock and paint repaired or touched up at minimum. It won't be exactly easy, but in the grand scheme of building a house in October 2022 it isn't going to be a big expense.

It depends on how they are wired.
If he jumpered them all together in the attic, you will just have one set of romex coming down to the switch. You will have to fix that first.
Since the switch is only one, the hard part will be removing the old gangbox and replace it with a 3 switch box.

We need more info on how the wires are pulled.
Do you have just one wire and one wire out the box? Did he run 14/3 or 12/3 out?
Can you narrow this down to only two switches? If so, you can get a combo switch and won’t have to replace the box. If you start pulling too many wires into a single gang box, you’ll exceed the box fill and make it really difficult to make the connections.
Regardless, if it’s an interior wall with no insulation and the fixtures are easily accessible in the attic, this is an easy fix. Can likely be done even without Sheetrock damage.

Depends on how it is wired at the switch, in most cases this is a relatively easy fix for a good electrician though. I've done this type of change numerous times, it really is just a matter of having the right tools.

Absolutely. The hardest part of this job is making sure you drill in the top plate (if your lucky enough that the person that drilled the hole originally drilled it big enough to slide a cable down the same hole)
