Great for golf fans to have such a good field this time of year.

Has anyone played the Conagree course. The Golf Pro said it will play hard and fast.

Should be a good test.

I live about 45 min from Congaree, closer to Hilton Head. It’s an extremely exclusive club (no members, just “ambassadors” that get invited) but I walked it a few times following a family friend that qualified for the Palmetto Championship last year. It can definitely play fast and long, great course.

I am looking forward to see it on TV.

No rough but a lot of hidden tee shots.

Should be a good course for Sam Burns as it plays long off the tee and will need high soft shots to the green.

Should play to 7400 yards.

Suppose to have a couple of drivable par fours.

Are all of the Par 3's going to be 220+?

3 of the most watched Par 3's in golf are nothing more than a PW/9i. Why can't we have more interesting Par 3s.

They will not be using the whole course length which is 7700 yards, so I assume that they will adjust some on the Par 3's and use different tee boxes to adjust.

170 yard par 3 is a 9 iron for a lot of the players. Only one Par 3 is really long at 260 which I assume they will use different tee boxes through out the tournament.

The beauty of this course is that it will demand precise iron shots and it will really test the players especially if the wind blows.

this time of year.

Why? I might watch some on Thursday/Friday, but it’s football season.

When I saw the field & pairings for 1st round, it made me think of the plan PGA & players came up with to counter the appeal of LIV. Didn’t they say something about the “best players” agreeing to show up to certain events on the schedule? I’m not sure what the details were on that.

The 2023 PGA Tour Season has started and players will have to play 20 events now if the players want qualify for the PIP.

There are now 17 elevated Events with larger payouts which will guarantee great fields.

4 of the 17 will rotate every season which is great for every tour stop.

Going forward every PGA Tour stop will have better fields and that's good for the fans in those communities.

Just saw this from PGA today:

quote:

The four events announced Wednesday, which will each have a $20 million purse, are the WM Phoenix Open, RBC Heritage, Wells Fargo Championship and Travelers Championship. The previously announced events that will offer increased purses and have commitments from the TOUR’s top players are:

• The four majors and THE PLAYERS
• Three FedExCup Playoffs events (FedEx St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship, TOUR Championship)
• Three player-hosted invitationals (Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, Memorial Tournament presented by Workday)
• Sentry Tournament of Champions
• WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play

Players who finished in the top 20 in the 2022 Player Impact Program are required to participate in all elevated events for which they are eligible, as well as at least three additional events. The commitment to compete in a pre-determined schedule, and play at least 20 times per year, is the result of unprecedented collaboration among the TOUR’s top players.

The Players always has the best field, now we could have 17 tournaments like that.

The fact that the CJ Cup’s trophy is a plaque instead of a cup is incredible.

Won't deny that. The Tour needed a nudge.

Where would Coke be without Pepsi pushing them.

Will the Zurich ever be one of the elevated events, or will it be treated differently because of its team design?

The Zurich could certainly be part of the 4 courses that will rotate.

It's really up to Zurich and if they are willing to increase the payout to 20 million or stay like they are.

The course looks awesome.

Some many waste areas that frame the holes. Really a nice contrast.

Does anybody know what's going on with PGA Tour Live? Why wouldn't there be a broadcast for this on ESPN+?
