Exhibit A for why future-transfer Howard will never get a starting snap under Denbrock.
Ridder, Daniels, Collins.
Occam's razor.

Howard can be very similar to Joe Burrow in terms of running/being mobile. He's a very good athlete. He's not a statue in the pocket.
Walker had a 31" vertical and ran a 4.76 40 as a freshman 15 year old in high school (verified numbers)

While true, you are confusing "QBs with mobility" for Mobile QBs. Denbrock loves dual threats that he can gameplan in many designed runs/read-options.

Are you questioning CleanSlate & his film/coaching expertise?
I know you weren't asking me but I will say I have no reason to doubt CleanSlate. Of course, I also have no reason to believe him either
Now Mr. Clean I have absolute faith in. But I basically know who he is, though I don't really know him.

I'm not confusing anything. Just stating they can do some RPOs with Howard and not sweat it not unlike we did with Burrow.
People think because Denbrock had Ridder for 4 years at Cincinnati he has to have a QB that can run 8-12 times a game. Not the case. You adapt to the talent you have. I'm pretty sure Denbrock wouldnt have not played Burrow because he wasn't a great runner.
Julian Sayin seems to be the top QB on the board for us in 2024 class and he's not in the vein of a guy who will be running the ball 10 times a game in college. He's ran the ball 18 times in 7 games so far this season.

He moves great but has a long slow release. That won't hurt too much in college, but it's a negative in the NFL.

Up until last week wasn't even sure Denbrock would see year 2
They do seem to prefer a mobile QB and Kelly had a guy like Ian Book that did both

So, in Denbrock's first year away from Ridder, he looked at the talent he had in the QB room and... recruited a transfer QB who can run 8-12 times a game, like Ridder?
Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one.

That's overblown. He has the right idea though. You need a QB who can extend plays with his feet or a true dual threat. Howard is similar to Burrow in that he has underrated athleticism to extend plays. 99% of the time this is what you want if you want to win a NC. It's very rare for pocket passers to win these days. BK/Denbrock have the right mindset for the type of QB that can win you titles in modern NCAA. You're absolutely crazy if you think BK is going to let Denbrock pass Howard up considering his potential.

I agee 100%. Give me a QB with mobilty that can extend plays over a Dual Threat game-planned runner/passer all day, any day.

I disagree. Denbrock prefers a QB that offers a significant role in the rushing attack with designed runs & read option RB-QB runs. That kind of QB hasn't won a title in over a decade.
quote:That's a baseless statement and more like projection. I've offered 5-years-running proof of the type of QB Denbrock has started and somehow I'm crazy for believing Denbrock won't start his current 3rd-string QB but rather would start Collins who offers similar abilities as Ridder & Daniels?

Weird statement on the last decade’s natty winners. Cardale Jones and Deshaun Watson were both very effective in the QB run game. Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence both averaged 20+ rush yards a game and would generally run more zone read and QB draws in the competitive games. Then you have guys who didn’t win natties, but got pretty damn close: Marcus Mariota, Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray, Justin Fields.
You just need good players at the QB position. Walker will play if he’s good.

None of those will be confused with Ridder or Daniels. That's like comparing Josh Allen to Lamar Jackson.

Deshaun Watson ran for 1100 yards in a season. Ridder and Daniels have never sniffed that type of rushing production- Is Watson the Lamar Jackson in your analogy?
Your point was silly, man. Just take the L.

But does Zachary's field still have ground stickers? Coach Burk said they would get rid of them when they renovated but they never did. It was always funny to watch the visiting team put their hand on the ground and yell "oh shite!".
Posted on 10/18/22 at 5:06 pm to Captain Crown
Has a little deshaun watson to his game.
The way he can back up in the pocket that easily.
Helps the qb out tremendously being able to retreat that quickly.
I love that kelly got him to flip.

He literally runs for his life on 3 out of 4 plays.

Yeah, they’re 3-4 cause they suck. No offense but they’re not a good team.
Posted on 10/19/22 at 12:09 am to LSUFreek
This is BK's team and BK's gameplanning. He will run the offense he wants not Denbrock. If you look at how LSU is recruiting they want guys who can sling it but use their feet. You make it sound like they want overwhelming majority runners in the scheme. BK is not stupid. A QB who's balanced and can do both is a nightmare for defenses to defend as you saw Daniels carve Florida up on the ground and through the air. That's what BK/Denbrock want.
If Howard gives them the best chance to win they will play them regardless of how much of a threat he is running. He is a threat btw it's just he looks to pass first.
