Was JFK a war criminal for threatening a pre-emptive invasion/attack on Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis?
Just want to get some opinions on when pre-emptive military action in perceived defense of the country from a potential aggressor near/on international boundaries is justified?
I look forward to a logical and informed discussion.

I don't know much about the Cuban Missile Crisis. I mean I know what it was, but no intricate details. It was before my time, and I've never researched it much.

The simpler argument is that George Bush is a war criminal. Gw should be in the Hague if there was justice in this world. Along with Dick Cheney.

You guys know what I think on the conflict, but I think “war crimes” is just a part of the political game. It’s a war for crying out loud. The real war crime is illegally invading a sovereign nation though, not bombing civilian housing, even though that’s terrible, every country who’s ever been in a conflict has done this though. That’s just what happens during a war. Now, if they’re rounding a bunch of civilians up into camps, and forcing them to do labor and other horrible things, then that’s a war crime.

These are nasty people. There are atrocities being committed on both sides. Torture and abuse of the adversary is such a normalized part of this war that the acts are often video recorded and uploaded. Nasty people!

And the "war crimes" thing is basically just shorthand for "remove him from power for doing xxx thing we don't like," which is what many are suggesting should be Putin's fate.
