BATON ROUGE - An officer reportedly shot a suspect after he was fired upon while responding to a call at an apartment complex on Highland Road Saturday evening.

The shooting was reported around 8:20 p.m. at The Hub Apartments on Highland Road, just off Lee Drive. The Baton Rouge Police Department said an officer was responding to a call concerning a person in emotional distress when someone opened fire on him.

BRPD said the officer returned fire, and the suspect was struck. The officer was not hit by gunfire but suffered minor injuries, sources said.

That apt complex is so shitty. I hate that the gas station on that corner closed and all the ghetto trash now goes to the shell station.

Emotionally disturbed

Technically, anyone shooting at anyone else should be classified as emotionally disturbed.

Most likely, that uniform was triggering to the young man. Probably thought it meant automatic death for him.

Doesn’t matter that statistics will 100% prove that wrong, that is what the media has taught me

Wish they'd bulldoze that entire side of the intersection, including Walmart and the apartments. They can take the smoke shop that opened in the old Tiger Tailoring while they're at it.

It’s only going to get worse with all the apartments built and being built.

Burbank around Rouses and all will be as bad as Tigerland in a few years.

Does Murphy suspend this officer for defending his life?
