The actual interview is silly. I sat down, he checked my passport, asked about one stamp, shook my hand, and sent me on my way.

Was it Global Interview? Global normally requires an electronic background check for prior crimes. Typically it is fast but still take a few minutes for them to get the data back and the clearance before the interviewing officer can give it the okay.

If you have any types of issues such as assault, DWI, etc.. you are required to bring the formal case disposition with you for review in case the digital background flags you for it. Goes back typically 15 years for non-violent and well beyond that for violent crimes.

Yes but you can’t go to in person until the other is done.

The requirements are not well communicated prior to the interview. I got an interview around 2017, and when I told the agent 20 seconds into the conversation that I got a DWI 20 years prior, he told me to leave. WTF? I've never smuggled in cash or Proscuitto, which is what TSA is supposedly trying to "protect" us against. It wasn't listed as a disqualifying issue, which is the only reason I applied, but he had his own opinions.

Global entry is only worth it if you transit through SFO/EWR, in my view. PreCheck entry has been closed (in the middle of the day, no less) in SFO for no apparent reason, and clearing customs nearly cost me a missed flight as I sat in line for nearly an hour to be able to board my connection to IAH.

I'd just avoid the horrible airports on the coasts. I'm Star Alliance, hence SFO/EWR/ORD being risks. No idea what the issues for SkyTeam/OneWorld are, but it's probably predictable.

PreCheck is nearly free with status, and if you have the right credit card, it's paid for. Clear is super cheap too.
