Documentary about Nolan Ryan just watched it yesterday. If you grew up watching him play in the 70s and 80s I would recommend it. The man had an amazing career. Hard to believe he never won a Cy Young award. Nolan talking about pitching inside was pretty funny as well as the Robin Ventura incident. edited to correct title.

This...

Bought it a few months back and its for sure fantastic as an 80s kid who grew up with Texas baseball.. (short of rooting for Chuck Finley)

the craziest thing about that was when it asked the subjects about it and none of them knew he hadn't won one either.

Nolan is my all time favorite athlete across any sport, so i really enjoyed it. one of the greats that was just never on any of the teams (other than the Mets) that made a huge splash.

Same, I idolized him growing up. First game of anything I ever watched was his 299th win in Arlington. Tried to pitch like him until I hung up the cleats finally.

That's one of the most vivid memories I have from little league. Trying desperately to get my left knee to my chin.

Absolutely!! Never could get it exactly like he did, but I sure as hell tried. Also wore 34 throughout my entire baseball journey.

Thought it was good but it was a little slow at points. Probably could have shortened from 1:40 down to 1:15

its not a great documentary, the production was cheaply done there werent enough personal stories from the game. The ones that make for great baseball stories. Those were lacking. And we get it you love Ruth, she's awesome.

But its Nolan fricking Ryan , one of the most unique and accomplished athletes in history. Whatever it is about him Im 100% engaged

Incredible he stayed injury free until that last pitch of his career
Mets didn't even have a pitching coach and he probably would have washed out had he stayed in New York
His wife had to talk him into staying in the game
Being able to pitch close to home with Astros and Rangers probably kept him in game longer
That Astros GM that low balled him is the main reason the Astros sucked for so long
Nice seeing old timers like Cruz, Cabell, and even JR Richard is seen in the film
Definitely brought back a lot of nostalgia especially from the Astros days and those teams

Great documentary. Only was able to go to a couple of Astros games a year as a kid. Was fortunate enough to be at Ryan’s 5th no-hitter against the Dodgers in 1981 with my dad on a Saturday afternoon. An all-time cherished memory.

I think he just played through most of his injuries. When he threw his last no hitter he told the pitching coach to have a guy warm up in the pen cause his back was jacked up. Then. after the first inning or so he told the team all I need is one run today. Also when he broke Kaufax record for strike outs in a season it happens in the 11th inning. He started the game

Ok doc. Agree that it was cheaply done. Had no idea he hated the owner of the Astros. And went into the HOF wearing a Rangers hat.

A great Texan.

On top of his 7 no hitters, he had 12 1 hitters and 18 2 hitters. Crazy.
