Coach Kelly notes key points regarding LSU’s progression heading into SEC play

What was most impressive about Kelly’s press conference was him explaining why LSU is performing so well and so consistently on offense and defense.
Regarding LSU’s progression on defense, Kelly noted “ we’re getting pressure, obviously that’s huge, from a four man front…playing on body coverage and we’re tackling running sideline to sideline… and we’re getting really consistent inside play now.” Kelly implied that LSU’s defense is really firing on all cylinders now and doing it consistently.
Regarding LSU’s QB’s progression, Kelly pointed out to Daniels that “when his feet are too slow, it puts his mind moving too fast” Kelly added that “we got into a really good coaching point with fast feet and slow decision making and it really helped him a lot.”
Regarding Nuss’ progression, Kelly seemed well pleased, noting Nuss was “decisive and made obviously some really high level throws… he’s a talented football player, he’s making good decisions, take what they give you, be disciplined, and you’ve got another really fine QB there.”
TTT - Kelly like Saban, is not one to blow smoke up our anuses. He’s very intelligent and straight forward on how he sees things. Kelly seemed to imply that he is very pleased with the progression of his offense, defense and both QB’s, which bodes well for LSU heading into SEC play on the road.

Very refreshing to hear him speak after having Les Miles and coach O!

It is refreshing to feel like I am actually being educated on what’s happening within LSU football.

Hmm. Sounds like alignment to me.

This is the thing I've noticed the most the last few weeks. LSU's players have been flying to the sidelines in numbers and tackling at an extremely high level. I can think of only 1-2 tackles that they didn't make immediately the last two weeks. In SEC play as the talent gets better, that's extremely important.

LOL To be fair I meant to post SEC play on the road, LSU’s first SEC road test.

Yeah its such a contrast to have a coach actually coaching and getting the most out of his players

Exactly, the slow learners think we are making fun of Les’s brain quirks or O’s Cajun accent, but what is refreshing is to hear actual ANALYSIS of the football team that’s logical. It has nothing to do with HOW they talk.

Coach O repeated this all year, but it was empty words, meaningless. Correct what?

I liked that they got Banks playing time. I noticed Welch and Davis played as well. Foucha will be available this week. The DB roster has a lot of quality depth going forward and Steeples and Cooks have done an excellent job getting these guys playing fundamentally sound football and working together as a unit.

#3 comes to mind. That kid is a tackling machine

Greg Brooks Jr. # 3 played like an allstar. Dude needs to be on the field as a starter. With him and Jay Ward on the field. Both play the safety position Excellent

It’s not great that Burns is out, but we are way deeper than I had imagined we would be.
