VC LPs don't like remote-first startups as investments

Heard from VC LPs this past week (a version of this in 3 different meetings):
“We are really skeptical of any staff working remotely or part time in the office. The best companies, best people and best ideas will not be found sitting alone in your house”

These are the same class of guys that gave Adam Neumann a couple billion right?

Too big of a generational divide. We just aren’t going to have people who grew up without the internet change, at large, to believing in WFH.

A lot of start ups, especially more traditional ones that aren’t just rounds and rounds of fundraising, require ridiculous hours of work. You don’t get that with WFH and you can’t stay focused that long.
Working for American Express customer service? Sure, great wfh. Someone is just a bean counter and don’t provide creative/ real business value? That’s fine too. Trying to start a business? I don’t see it.

It's coming, but you're not wrong in that it will be very slow. Here's my anecdotal story.
I am an SAP Solution Architect / PM for a Samsung subsidiary of about 40k global people, 7k or so left in the US. For their history, we have been hostile against work from home. When they outsourced the factory I came up in to Mexico about 4 years ago, they let me and about 10 others stay on working remote from home.
I travel globally to various sites for a week at a time every 3-6 months for project work. I've been living in terror they every call from manager was going to be to tell me that my exception was being revoked and I had to relocate to an office or resign.
When Covid shut the offices down, they set up people to work from home. Last year they started opening offices slowly and getting people back in.
In June this year, they announced a 100% work from home policy for office employees. They will downsize offices and have people reserve limited seating and conference room space to come in only as needed. I was shocked.
It's coming.

Man, I don’t know how mobile etc you are, but this is a shitty way to live if this is the case. Can’t be health at all. Maybe it’s time to move on

Meh, I work for a large company and our group is now permanently WFH. Not sure why they made the janitorial team WFH but I’m not complaining.

WFT is here to stay. Boomers need to chill out with all this demanding people to come into the office.
On the other hand, in person interaction is wholly necessary in certain situations. I can see the point about the hours, effort, and collaboration it takes to get a startup business going. That is OBVIOUSLY a unique situation where in-person working is beneficial.
