At the 2022 BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday, Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge ran 2:01:09 to win the race and take 30 seconds off the world record he set on the same course four years ago. He went through the half marathon in 59:51 so he was going for sub 2 hours.

It’s funny that a 61 and change half marathon is “blowing up” in Kipchoge terms. Don’t see a big positive split world record very often.

Most people have no comprehension how fast that is.

I think that is a 4:32 per mile average

99.99% of people can't run 1 mile under 4:40. Dude does a marathon at that pace.

4:37
Just completely ignorant. My 1500 pr converts to 4:25 roughly for the mile. I couldn’t even imagine going 4:37 for 26.2

Amazing achievement. I’ve posted this before, but the Ineos 1:59 documentary is a good watch. His training in Kenya is insane and his mental toughness is second to none

That man is insane. Earlier this year I watched the video where he ran a marathon under 2 hours.
Officially, it wasn't allowed to count for the record books because of how the run was set up. But still, that was still incredibly insane and very impressive.
That man is a machine.

I think we’ll get a legal sub 2 in the next decade due to the work he’s done for the sport. Which is just absolutely insane to think about.

Absolutely incredible feat. Kipchoge is an absolute beast.
