That's the first time I've thought that in a while. Really kind of amazing the turn around Kelly has been able to pull off. The defense was flying to the ball, only really out of position on that one throw to the back. Sure there were some ticky tacky calls on special teams but overall major improvement there also. The offense executed well, I'm personally not a huge fan of some of the scheme/route combinations as I think they ask too much of the quarterback, to scan too much of the field. I think they should just focus the routes on certain area of the field to make it easier to scan through route but that's just me armchair quarterbacking, they were very productive and did have more dump offs and easy passes last night. Also the QB's both have been improving in the system. Overall, this is a fun football team to watch and will be a tough team to beat come mid season if we can shake the injury bug.

Brian Kelly is a historically good coach. He knows how to coach and his bubble gum card proves it. Matt House has been the most pleasant surprise of the new regime. I knew that Kelly would bring a higher degree of technical training and discipline than we've seen since Saban. I did not know House could call games like this. His schemes/in-game adjustments have been Aranda-esque!

I can’t remember the last time we shut anyone out especially missing 4 starters on defense. Idc who it’s against, you always feel good keeping a team off the board.

Also, love seeing the offense being able to see the OL just get nasty inside the 10 and punch the football in.

Bech needs to be the punt returner. He may not be as fast but he has a better feel for it.

I still say that blindside block on Bech's punt return was BS. I did not see the penatly on Taylor that got his TD called back.

Last night all the routes were quick and the QB went to designed first reads most of the time. I agree that prior to New Mexico we were asking Jayden to do to much but if he can’t throw quick hitters (he can and he did) than we are screwed this year on offense.

Meh. Too many penalties at crucial points on offense. Result was tons of yards and few points in first half. It seemed cleaner in second half. Special teams still need work. Missed field goal and a stupid blindside “block” called on return. I didn’t like the call but Bech was passed that guy and block (good or bad) was not necessary. And a kick-off that was sent OB. Those mistakes need to be eliminated for LSU to compete against best SEC teams

The defense has been very impressive giving up only 3 points in the last 6 quarters.

I am still worried that our lack of depth is going to bite us in the arse as we face a brutal SEC schedule. All things considered it looks like we are heading in the right direction and as we recruit well we will get back to winning big games consistently.

Next year and the year after that we will be very good.

The improvements each week is a sign of good coaching. The lack of improvements on special teams though is a sign of bad coaching. Hopefully Polian is gone this offseason or at least moved into a different role.
