Don’t you only have to pay 10% of whatever the bail is set at?

With that attitude maybe we don’t need you when we rebuild BR.
Stay in LP.

12% IF you can get a bondsman to post for you.

This discussion came up in another thread and it was mentioned that some families were putting up property bonds on land which generate oil and gas money to bail out their shitheads in some part of the state.

That’s why it’s so important to get a decent understanding who the candidates (and issues) are and vote in every single election. Convince others to vote as well.

Unfortunately more people care about LSU football and who the players/coaches are. Huge massive debates on the OT about LSU football but crickets when it comes to who is best to be judge, councilman, mayor, etc. It’s pathetic and we have Rice’s blood on our hands as well.

We put these people in power. They are a reflection of us as a whole. If we are apathetic with elections, should we expect those that win be any less so?

Potentially. But why put up that much in cash which has to be explained when you can go through a bondsman to obscure things?

Eboni literally ran on "I plan on using alternative methods because not everyone should go to jail"... if course the entire city's criminal and idiot population voted for her. Everyone acting surprised hasn't seen her campaign video literally saying that.

The guy on the left is NBA Youngboy who is facing federal firearms charges, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Baton Rouge and is currently on house arrest on a $500K bond in Utah.

The guy on the right is the suspect that BRPD was chasing and ended up killing his passenger when he ended up crashing his Nissan Altima during the pursuit.

I’ve never once heard of a judge commenting on the court’s ruling to media reporters for ongoing cases. Don’t think they’re allowed to.

Baton Rouge could be cleaned up. It's not a difficult problem to fix. There are several major issues though.

1. Build a massive modern jail.

The problem? They can't get the tax passed. The current EBR jail is horrific and ancient.

2. Elect judges who actually want to protect the innocent public.

The problem? A large portion of the voters in EBR clearly support this revolving door.

3. Elect a DA who actually prosecutes.

The problem? There is nobody that will get elected in BR that is better than Hillar. He is horrible, but whoever replaces him will be ten times as bad. Think New Orleans DA bad.

4. Fund the hell out of the police and elect/appoint leaders who support their people.

The problem? Murphy Paul is a puppet and whoever eventually replaces Sid will likely suck, similar to the issue with replacing Hillar. You'll never be able to pass additional taxes to EBR to fund law enforcement and the massive wasted taxes in place now will never be diverted from their pet projects. I guarantee you if you got a Sheriff and Police Chief like the ones you see in Florida who fund and support their men, you won't have a recruiting and retention issue, especially as liberal cities run every last cop out of their departments.

We are well beyond pretending "programs" work. The only thing that works is physically removing the violent and predatory criminals from society by locking them up as long as legally possible.

Let us not forget that ERJ is the same judge who let the guy who murdered his girlfriend be released from monitoring because he couldn't afford it. He then held a gun to his new girlfriend's head and shot out her windows.

This is a routine occurrence for her. There is absolutely nothing any of us can do about it.

I’m curious as to how many times Nak actually reached out, or as another poster said, wait for her at the courthouse with a microphone

19th JDC Judge Fred Crifasi is reportedly offering offenders an alternative to completing community service hours, get vaccinated.

Attorney Ashley Greenhouse said Judge Crifasi gave her client the opportunity to get fully vaccinated in place of finishing the last four hours of court-ordered community service. “He was like if you show me, we’ll reset the matter,” Greenhouse said. “If you’ll come back and show me you’re double vaccinated, fully vaccinated then I will give you credit for those hours. I think he was really careful that he was not forcing you, he was not coercing you to do it.”

The judge has reportedly offered the deal to other people appearing in his courtroom for varying amounts of mandated community service. WAFB reached out to Crifasi’s office for clarification on the deals and who all is eligible, the judge has not responded.
