“I think there’s a role for him,” Kelly said. “Certainly, he adds something to our pass rush and we certainly saw that. That’s why he got the opportunity to play out on the edge a little bit. You saw him inside with some blitzing inside. I think we found a niche for him in terms of where he can help us. He can continue to evolve into that position.

Now, he’s already making a huge impact on the field for LSU. In three games, the true freshman has recorded 14 tackles and two tackles for a loss. His first career sack came against Mississippi State on Saturday and also added 0.5 more.
Kelly will be able to deploy Perkins all over the field, giving opposing offensive coordinator headaches throughout matchups. His athleticism is already elite with the ability to play multiple positions. Whether he’s playing linebacker or rushing the quarterback, there’s a bright future for Perkins.

Sounds exactly like Micah Parson’s role in Dallas.

I love seeing Perkins on the field!

I think he's the most talented player on our team. As he continues to learn what to do, there's no ceiling for how good he can be.

Yep he's the next Lawrence Taylor

And he is a scholar! Keep it up young tiger

Imagine what this staff is going to be able to do with our talent if Perkins, Campbell, Taylor and Jones are samples of what is possible with true Fr. It's still hard to remember sometimes that we have an advantage on the sidelines and coaches box in just about every game. Feels like cheating.

What's crazy is if you watch him move on the field, he could legit walk out and cover most college slot receivers.

Perkins is a complete disruptor when out on the field. Seemed like if he didnt get to the QB before someone else, he was breathing down their neck about to be. His dog mentality seems to be contagious too. He's got that LSU defensive swag that makes recruits want to come here.

Young man has a bright future

What’s exciting about him is when he does get to the Qb his athleticism allows him to make the play and not whiff.

Our defense is likely to be nasty by November's gauntlet.
Really need our offense squared away by then to make a run at this thing

Nothing more frustrating than a guy getting to the QB and then he can't finish the play.

Part of his recruiting pitch was that he wanted a few plays at RB too.
Let’s make it happen.

That's hyperbole, unless you're including the likes of Wofford and Bethune-Cookman. If he tried to cover a mid-level Power Five WR he would get toasted badly.
