I'm going to Oxford for the game this week. Oxford is an awesome town, but this will be my first time tailgating in the Grove - I can't wait.
I've only been to Starkville once, but from what I saw it did not have the charm of Oxford.

There's charm to the square, but the only charm in the grove is fake charm. hanging a mini chandelier from a 10x10 pop-up tent doesnt make you classy, it just makes you look stupid.
And as soon as you encounter their fans all that charm goes out the window. You don't have to say anything at all, wearing LSU gear is enough. They loathe LSU people.

The Junction in Starkville is highly underrated.

Oxford
Have all alcohol in a non-descript solo cup and don’t walk anywhere but sidewalks and crosswalks.
Their campus PD is a bunch of assholes and just looking to pour out the alcohol of anyone wearing purple and gold.

Oxford.
As Skip Bertman said, Starkville is the only place he ever requested a hotel room without a view.

Starkville and it's not close.
I have been to both venues several times. Walking around the Grove in my purple and gold people may nod their heads or say hi but have never been invited into a tailgate to enjoy their cold wings or refresh my beverage.
Walking around MSU tailgates I always get invited to join in, offered food and drink and invited to watch whatever game is on TV.
I think the difference is that OM thinks they are better than and should always beat LSU. MSU knows they are lucky when they pull out a win so why not enjoy the day.

Oxford by a mile. One of my favorite road trips. Love the town and the Grove.
I’ve had way more bad experiences with State fans than Ole Miss.
Honestly, if you’re more “white collar” and preppy the Ole Miss fans will be welcoming to you, but if you’re more “blue collar” you’ll probably enjoy Starkville/State fans more. Just depends on who you are.

If you play golf, then you should do a stay and play at Mossy Oak which also gets you access to Old Waverly. The #2 and #3 course in Mississippi, both less than 25 minutes from Starkville.

Oxford is one of my favorite SEC road trips. Starkville is not as barren and desolate as people say. You can have a great time there also. But gun to my head, I'd choose Oxford.

I haven't been to an away game either but Oxford is actually the place the wife and I want to go if we do ever go to an away game mostly because of location and I work with a guy who would kind of guide us around there.

Oxford for sure!!!! If you make the mistake of choosing to attend a game in Starkvegas you will regret due to the loud cowbells in your ear!

Been to the last 3 or 4 LSU/Ole Miss games in Oxford and the same amount of away LSU games at MS St. Also, my daughter goes to Ole Miss so we'll make it to one other Ole Miss game each year. Tailgating wise and game day experience wise, I'm going Ole Miss easily. State's isn't bad but it does not compare to Oxford now matter how hard they try.
In game experience is where it get's interesting for me. Both stadiums are unimpressive. With State, it's easy to get around and the seats are comfortable but the cow bells are super annoying. State fans are very easy to deal with. With Ole Miss, they did a seat expansion a few years ago but didn't really make the stadium larger so the seats are super tight. Hate that part of the game. Also, the fans are way over the top.

If Sterno fumes bother you stat away from The Grave/grove. Got to Starkvegas it’s a great scene. .
