In GA, yes. Our on field guys make $120/game. I make $60 running the clock.

$120 is nice but nowhere near the $200 that he threw out.

In La. we get $72-$100 with an extra $15 for the referee.

Clocks make $50.

Georgia is the 2nd hugest paying state w/their football officials. Behind Texas obviously. We also don't get a share of the gate like TX does. But $110 for RS and $125 for the playoffs is not bad at all

I might bring this up at our meeting next Monday.

People hate on the refs, but as a whole, I'd argue high school coaches are worse at their jobs than the officials.

I work the chains sometimes. No one is paid, but some may have bias. Especially when coaches say some really dumb things to refs on the field during the heat of the game. The team that say something stupid ends up not getting the calls.

PREACH!

We all know what bad chain crews can do to a game.

15-14 game. trailing team has ball, 3 rd and 8 from own 41 with 39 seconds left. Qb (who was a STUD) rolls right chunks it way down field, corner blitz hits him a good 2 steps after he releases ball(with hands to face) ball is picked at the 10 and picker runs to the 28 where he is hit and tackled by a wideout. about a second after whistle blows a d linemen clobbers the qb who had just gotten up from other hit. so R has RFP and dead ball late hit.

Chain crew is camped out at 28, U saw my RFP flag and saw chain crew moving and camped out on 41 fortunately nobody removed the clip. 15 enforced for RFP and 15 for late hit. ball is spotted at 29 first and 10 with 14 seconds left. Offense gets ball to 15 wins 17-15 with a 32 yard fg... they kicked on 3rd down, down box guy moved box to 4th down during snap. might have had a riot if snap was bad and they line up to kick again.

They aren’t paid off they’re just really really shitty at their jobs

Have you thrown your name into the hat to step out on the field? I'm sure you could instruct the current guys. How about it? Why aren't you out there? Instead of whining like a bitch?

I've asked that same question on here numerous times, and every time I've asked it the person who I'm asking it to says absolutely nothing. Crickets.

But they have no problem screaming at us from the stands like they know what we're doing.

Its gotta be like 35-40 at the lowest. I'm Watching a game tonight and its just obvious what's going on

I've been officiating in the panhandle for 8 yrs, we are now making $125 on the field, R gets $135, and ECO's get $85. We have one run the game clock and the other does the play clock.

As mentioned above the vast majority of officials officiate because we love the game and enjoy the guys we do it with. If you were to break down the amount of time spent on Friday night from the moment I get in my truck to arrive for pre-game at the field (usually hour and half to hour and forty-five before kickoff) and the time I step back into my house the money isn't worth it. We now are doing Varsity games on Thursday and Friday nights, occasionally Monday nights due to not enough officials. Sub-varsity games and middle school games we are even going to 4 man crews to cover games.

Majority of coaches know we are a necessary evil, but the fans who don't know the rules and treat officials poorly are jeopardizing the games future. Someone sitting in the stands that is considering officiating and hears the stuff spewed at officials most likely reconsider. I even occasionally ask myself, "Do I want to continue to give up my Friday nights through Thanksgiving and not spend time with my family?". It is only going to get worse, majority of associations that I've seen in Florida have officials who have and average age of 55 and above.
