9 out of 10 the government will step in and you will get your raises.
That's the plan but there is a process.. we have to wait until the 17th to see if they can reach a tentative agreement. If not then we'll be ready!
The last time there was a strike it only lasted something like 4 hours.. it's not as big of a deal the media is making it out to be 4 billion dollars a day it won't last a day.. Congress will step in.

Congress will step in which is another huge issue. Half of our union dues are handed to Democrat politicians bc "they're for the working man". Now, a Democrat Congress is going to side with the railroads who are all owned by Blackrock & other hedge funds who the Dems supposedly don't like.

Exactly! Quite unfortunate..

Most of the workers don't vote (D). It's the union leadership that pushes the Democrats.

Didn't realize we had so many posters on here involved in rail. I picked up some informative bits in this discussion.
Maybe in the future we can put together a rail workers versus plant baw softball tourney.

Seen MOW Union has reached an tentative agreement, below is what they will be getting,
1. 22%/24% componded wage increase.
2. 5k in bonus $
3. $21 bump in hotel$$
4. $28 bump in m&ie
5. Perdiem on travel days to and from!
6. Travel miles paid between hotel & jb site
7. Travel miles paid when bumped
8. Travel miles paid when abolished
9. Travel miles paid for start up
10. Travel miles paid mid week move
11. Added hearing aid increase.
12. Added autism coverage.
13. Added another personal day...
The other Unions are pissed that they "caved". I also read but haven't confirmed that congress passed a bill calling for two additional 30 day cooling off periods to push all of this off past the mid-terms. Read into that what you will.

Tentative agreement isn’t a final agreement.
Pretty sure the union still has to vote the deal up or down.
That being said, attempting to kick the problem past midterms seems to say “This isn’t going to end well and we would rather shite meet fan when the opposition takes over.”

I’m a union member. If it was up to contractors, employees wouldn’t make crap. Just look at the scales non union workers make.

Amtrak beginning to suspend routes at the end of the week. This is coming down quick now.

another complaint is how the respective companies will have more control over manpower on extra boards, assigned boards and freight boards.
Meaning the old union contracts had a minimum amount a board could have. Now, the company will have control over this. This gives them the company power to basically eliminate hundreds of jobs that were previously protected.
That and they will cut the extra boards down to the absolute bone and will use the fact they have no one available to deny personal days, time off, etc.

The end of the week is the 16th, that's the end of the last cooling off period after it went to the PEB (presidential emergency board) we've been without a new contract for almost 3 years.. nothing quick about it.. the public is only just now heading about it because we're so close to striking. There's a long drawn out process to get through the negotiations.

they'd banner test out in the middle of the yard at night.
What is a banner test?
They put a banner over the tracks where you are required to run restricted speed. Restricted speed means you have to be able to stop in half of visible distance.
Hit the banner and you're fired.
