If there’s one President that will be there, Obama is the one almost guaranteed. It’d honestly probably be a good idea for Brandon to send Obama in his stead so he doesn’t shite himself or fall asleep during the Queen’s funeral.
It will be embarrassing if Biden does not make the trip over there for this. Its the longest serving head of state of our closest ally.
Biden has zero excuse not to go. I would imagine that Obama and W attend as well. May even get a Jimmy Carter sighting.

Queen Elizabeth will be the topic for this coming weekend, but starting Monday it's back to Trump, Trump, Trump until election day.
The Queen isn’t going to be buried this weekend. This isn’t an affair you can get going overnight like most funerals. This is a state funeral, and the last person that got a state funeral over there was Winston Churchill. Not even Diana, the Queen’s mother, or Margaret Thatcher got that treatment.
Whenever the Brits do a state funeral, they go all fricking out like a Roman Triumph. You haven’t seen a funeral you’re about to see in your lifetime. The bare minimum is she’ll be buried the Sunday after next, probably even longer since the visitation alone will take 10 days.

Yep. Its going to air live on every news channel worldwide too, and presumably last all day.

There is effectively a zero percent chance of him being invited. No way the Royal Family or anyone involved wants him there to take attention away from the Queen.
There are going to be some really, really famous and powerful people at that funeral. Like I wouldn’t be shocked if Xi Jinping goes to the funeral. It’s going to be hard for someone even as dramatic as Trump to upend this.
The only ones the Royal Family is really worrying about are Harry and Meghan since they do have the power to ruin the funeral and make it all about them. The entire royal family would much rather have Trump there than Meghan.

Why'd you leave off the one who actually had a British parent?

It will be embarrassing, but we all remember what he did in front of the Pope. The funeral will be an all day if not multi-day affair. I’m not sure Biden can handle doing that for hours at a time. I doubt many posters have seen a funeral of this magnitude.

Because I don't foresee a scenario where Trump is invited or attends, as I said in my post before the one you quoted.

And Trump has that going in his favor to on being invited in that he’s both a child of America and the UK. I think Trump was always on his best behavior around the Queen, so I don’t see why he explicitly wouldn’t be invited.

I would. Xi has barely left Beijing in two years. I would expect that the Foreign Minister goes, and probably Jintao and whatever living former CCP leader was in office when the Brits gave back Hong Kong.

Oh, I missed that. Your reasoning is goofy.

That Trump commanding a ton of attention, protest, etc. wherever he goes would prevent him from getting an invite? He has quite the tendency to make everything he does solely about himself.
Seems rather reasonable to me. IMO the British are not going to want anything to do with the type of inherent and unavoidable distraction that come with Trump during the events.

I wonder which funeral will get more TV airtime in the USA... The Queen or George Floyd?

Save for McCain, I don’t remember Trump doing that at a funeral.

Again, it has little to do with how Trump would physically behave during the funeral itself. If he goes, then a certain percentage of the coverage will be devoted to him going. I could be wrong, I just don’t see them wanting him involved in any way.

They won't blame Trump but they will certainly take advantage of the larger viewing audience to mix in some negative Trump news.
Sort of as brief "news breaks" going into or coming out of commercials.
It's a good opportunity to reach dummies that wouldn't normally be tuned in.

They’ve got Meghan Markle there, so they’ve got plenty of fodder with her.

That’s laughable. This isn’t just a tabloid production. There will be a spotlight and all manner of heads of state and dignitaries which would take the opportunity to air grievances against the old Empire. Like it or not the British monarchy represents racism and imperialism to some.
There’s also the potential for a world altering terror attack with probably so many heads of state gathered

Funny how all those who claim that somehow wind up in England.
