I’ve spent a ton of time in Newfoundland over the last 6 months or so. An absolute hidden gem that I’ve turned into basically my second home. Wish I could move there. Are you guys still working out of Gander?

I've never set foot in Gander. Honorary St. John's citizen here.

Gander isn't popular in the C-130 community(not enough watering holes I guess ), St. John's is our Vegas though. I love the place.

ETA: to answer your question though, yes their are a lot of American 130s that go into Gander. I've just avoided it somehow.

I had a friend of mine on a drill weekend get a little over zealous when it was his turn to take a few shots at an F-4 drone over the GoM and he splashed it before everyone else could get shots in, boss said you are riding home in the C-130!! he was a real coonass and telling me about it later(rode in the cockpit,) "man, I didn't think we'd ever get there! and I'm talking about to two thousand feet!"

I'm sure you pointy nose types would rather die than hitch a ride in the four fan trash can of glory.

Awesome! St. John’s is a great spot. I usually stay just north of there in Pouch Cove. That whole province is gorgeous.

It is absolutely gorgeous and a hidden gem as you said. Next time you're in St. Johns go get dinner in the underground part of the Yellow Belly(The underbelly). Speakeasy joint complete with bar staff in period dress. I would kill for their short rib with steamed veggies and their whiskey sour that they make with egg whites.

All this talk is making me wish I was there.

Biloxi? proud of you young baws and happy for you, we need as many mil guys as possible to pass the baton to, this is a changing industry and who's in control of the rudder is in question right now

ETA: remember how to fly the 320 as we speak.

Had a REALLY nice day out there about 20 years ago.

As in, I’d take that one on repeat for a decade or two.

Yep, this is inside the eye of a cat 2 I flew yesterday. Hurricane Kay off the Baja peninsula. It's since been downgraded.

Yeah, I remember most of it, its the details that get me. Been on mil leave for almost four months. I had just gotten consolidated on the bus when I took orders.

It kinda sucks because the airbus is just different. It's super easy when you're used to it, but flying it is just a different frame of mind. It will make you look stupid if you're out of practice.

Did you take the float plane out?

I've never actually been, but my frau would be pissed and had a REALLY nice day out there without her.
