10. I'm in the same boat

I'm in Northern Calif (Napa near Lake Berryessa)

Our HVAC needs Freon. It works, but is blowing warm air. It is so old (35+ years) that it only takes the illegal kind (22). I plan on replacing it (said it would be around 20K), but not until next year when I can get a reverse mortgage on the house. So for now, I bought a small room portable AC for my 80 year old mom's room. My room is on the ground floor and stays somewhat cooler.

Overnight, the low got down to 80. I was able to get it down to 81 downstairs. Upstairs was over a 100!!! INSIDE. Outside yesterday it got up to 114. The day before was 111.

Is it October yet? I hate summers any more. Between fire scares and water shortages, and now this. I just want to skip summers from now on.

I want this to be over! Where is the San Francisco Fog? We NEED you!

I almost feel bad for people like this ,but John Wayne did say it best, "life is hard when you're stupid."

Maybe it is just a coincidence but a streamer I was watching earlier from California had to end their stream because of a power outage.

The #1 thing people and governments can do to conserve electricity is to update older HVAC unit.

Instead of spending money on all this green energy stuff which is not ready for primetime, put that money into subsidizing upgrades of old AC systems. That is, if you are going to put money into something other than better energy grid. I don't agree with paying people to upgrade their AC's, it would just inflate the cost of AC upgrades, but if you are going to flush money down the toilet in the name of energy, it makes much more sense than the things dems are flushing the money down the toilet for now.
