in Baton Rouge.

Update. I found some sport peppers in town. I couldn't find the relish, but I added green food coloring to regular sweet relish and it looks like the real neon green stuff.

I plan on doing a play on the Chicago style hotdog for the F&DB Cooking Challenge. I wasn't expecting to have trouble finding these items. I guess I can substitute tabasco peppers for the sport peppers, but the green relish is a key component for the proper look.

Any help is appreciated.

PORTILLO'S

I purchased from Portillo's for 4th of July, but Amazon was cheaper just for what you need. Of course not in B.R. but just FYI for next time.

Thank you. That's been my result. If I can't find the Bright green relish by tomorrow the cooking challenge will remain on my bucket list.

Maybe there are some independent grocers I missed around BR. Call and ask. The thing is, I could swear I saw the Vienna brand somewhere in the last year. Maybe it was in Destin on vacation, but I thought it was in La.

I thought about this, but I don't think it would soak in. I probably could fake it, but I want it to taste good and authentic.

But you got me thinking. If I can make my own, I might try that. Or a mock version of it. But I really rather buy it. This was supposed to be easy and not take much time.

That neon green always throws me when I see it. Seems unnatural. The Chicago dog has so many vegetables on it it could almost be good for you.

Check to see if any restaurants around you do a Chicago dog and buy a dog and get extras.

You were correct. It absorbed the green food coloring like a sponge.

I couldn't find the neon green sweet relish, so I bought Heinze sweet relish and added the green food coloring to it. It's light colored green so it lended itself well to using the green food coloring. Looks like a perfect match to the real stuff. Thanks for the suggestion.
