When you see how they are the tool for coverups and taking anyone out that gets in their way, it is evident that if America is to survive, taking these agencies out is now a higher priority than any foreign enemy(muh Russia).

Trump or any other outsider needs to shut them down, priority #1, not only to save America, but to save their own arse.

So that leads to the question of whether a president has the authority or ability to take out these treacherous agencies. They are part of the executive branch are they not? It seems the president has the power to piss trillions of dollars away in any number of ways. But the president doesn’t have the power to shut down executive branch agencies? Anyone know wtf the holdup is?

It's basically impossible.

The only plausible way would be to empower the military...which opens an entire can of worms.

Easier said than done. For example, let’s say Trump decided to fire all of the upper management within the FBI. Ok, then what? Who do you elevate into those positions? The guys you just fired are going to have lots of agents within the FBI who are loyal to them. If you promote them, you’re essentially back where you started. Furthermore, the guys you fired potentially have the ears of politicians and advisors around the President. Again, you could just end up back where you started with agents with a bigger ax to grind because you fired someone they were loyal to.

Thinking about it, you’d probably need incredibly tough legislation complete with severe criminal penalties that holds those in charge of the agencies to account. No more blanket “but muh national security” defense. You either cooperate or you face federal prison time.

Yes! The president takes an oath to defend the country from domestic enemies of the Constitution.

The President would need the consent of Congress. The CIA is organized and budgeted by Congress. If a President wanted to just disband it, he would have to inform Congress of his intent. Congress could either pass legislation to preserve it, or threaten the President with removal from office should he disband it.

In short, it would require political support.

When Bongino and Levin have finally admitted it’s time to dismantle the FBI and DHS you know it’s way past time to do so.

If it can be done, why didn't Trump do it?
