I was listening to Dr. Steve Turley in one of his latest YouTube videos and he mentioned that there was a study conducted, by whom IDK, that illustrated Republican polling numbers depressed during the late part of August and through September like clockwork for the past 2 decades. The implication is push polling is used to prop the Democrat candidates up and depress GOP candidate numbers. Apparently the cycle is uncanny and repeats every election cycle. I googled for the study and cannot find it. Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms. Has anyone here heard or read such a study? I would be really interested in reading it.

It probably doesn't help when your own "Party Leaders" in Washington are also in on it.

Manipulation is the media's business model.

Erick Erickson was saying this same thing on the radio about two weeks ago. I forget the reasoning, but it is some sort of established fact according to him.

I watched Robert Cahaly, founder of the Trafalgar Group, cover this earlier today. He basically echoed Dr. Turley

He said the GOP should regain the senate by at least one seat, win the house and Dixon is within 4 points of Stretching Gretchen.

I would love to see Dixon win in Michigan. That could be huge for 2024 presidential election.

I can't speak to previous cycles, but you can clearly see the effect Roe V Wade being overturned has had on candidates. Tiffany Smiles (R) Washington was a 8 pt underdog prior to Roe V Wade. The second it was overturned she became a 14pt dog.

In my state (which is heavily republican), they tried to slip in a constitutional amendment during the Primaries (Which is about as underhanded as it gets) to allow them to pass anti-abortion laws. It was soundly defeated in a state that usually votes 60% republican in the presidential elections.

Of course sometimes pollsters are just shitty, I had one call me the other day that had a question which was essentially.

Which statement do you agree more with:
A) Democrat candidate has done all these bad things
B) Republican candidate has done all these great things.

The motive of this is fundraising. Big donors don't like flushing their money down the drain. They won't support a candidate who is polling as a sure loser. So, the Dem can now go to Acme and say 'Look, I'm getting ahead now and if you donate I'll make sure Acme likes my voting record.'

That's like the English in WWII. People don't realize they were helping the Germans bomb London.

Are these tge same polls that had Hillary trouncing Trump. MAGA supporters and independents aren't showing their hand woth these polls. It's mostly liberal responses.

Damn that was a quick poll. I personally think the most common reason and goal with this particular polling tactic is to cause Republican voters to capitulate adopt the position that don’t waste your time voting, there’s no use. Which probably not coincidentally we see that exact attitude all too often, including surprisingly often on this forum.

Makes perfect sense.

Afterall, pollsters have customers and customers want certain outcomes.

I guess it's a herd mentality with humans and when you only need to get a few points on the margins to win, it makes a big difference.

I noticed this as a bartender in college. I would dreg getting a pina colada or strawberry daquiri order when we were busy. As soon as one chick ordered one at the bar it seemed like all the women wanted a frozen drink. Then I had two blenders going simultaneously for the next 30 minutes. It was the damndest thing.
