Bathtub reglazing

I had an old clawfoot reglazed after I moved into my current house that was in the bathroom on the ground floor. I pulled it out the house, turned it upside down and stripped and painted the outside to make it look good, then had a guy come to reglaze it while it was still outside under protection.

He did a fine job and it lasted about 10 years before Katrina hit and dumped chemically laced water almost 5 ft. high in that area and pretty much ruined the work.

Still have the tub sitting under a tarp and will once again refinish it if I decide to put it back in what is now the man cave.

Absolutely if done correctly. Talking 15+ years durable with daily use. Bought an investment house in 2001 with a rose colored tub. Had it reglazed to an ivory/cream color as well as the wall tiles around it. Was rented by families the entire time. Was great for over 15 years. In 2019 we had it touched up by the son of the guy that did the original reglaze.

Methhead looking mf'er did our kitchen farm sink. Two years later it has about 50 chips in it and needs to be redone.

I reglazed a built-in iron tub that had been reglazed by a previous owner. Had to strip, sand and grind before reglazing. the preparation took two or three days, at least.

I used the rustoleum reglazing kit and it worked very well. I think it took four coats to get a really smooth finish. It's been more than three years and it looks as good as the day I did it.

The key to a successful job no matter what you choose is preparation of the tub surface. If you or your contractor cuts short the preparation of the surface, any reglazing job will fail.
