Live drafts should never go away, this should always be a thing.

In my only remaining league with people I know, we now have people living all over the world. Makes in person tough.

Speaking of which, anyone ever tried having a draft over Google Meets or Zoom rather than just drafting on a draft website? Seems like it could work and would be more like sitting in a room with buddies. May try that next year. Hell, billion dollar deals are made on Zoom, so why not a fantasy draft.

My 20+ year league still gets together in person for the draft...each year 1-2 guys have a conflict and will participate online.

I messaged our commissioner before the draft tonight and said we should all draft in person next year, with only cheat sheets and fantasy magazines.

No phones or laptops.

The first ticker that had the scores and stats on the bottom of the screen was on TNT. I think TNT did the Sunday night game back then.

I do remember that the NBC game had scores and stats pop up on the screen ~ every ten minutes. You’d hear the NBC peacock tune and all my buddies and I knew that meant an update was coming. We stopped anything we were doing to make sure we watched the scores and stats that were happening atm.

3 sounds fkn terrible though.

Getting USA Today every Monday and adding up your scores especially defensive players was awesome!

I was also great being the only one besides your league mates that you knew doing. Cheering when some random guy scored asking you why you were excited jumped the shark for me when half the women at work talk about their fantasy teams

As the commissioner, it was a ton of work, but you also had a big advantage when it came to waivers because you would notice impressive stats for some scrub.

I'm too young to remember all of this, but I remember my dad taking me to his drafts with him. One of my favorite memories from when I was a kid was going to the draft with his friends and him letting me "help" him draft players.

We tried this last week

My advice: have a tablet dedicated to the call so you can still use all of your devices for the draft, research, etc

It was kinda last minute for us, but we had two guys who couldn’t make the draft so we did it like we normally did, but with them on FaceTime, and just to make it easier for them to see the draft board, I did a sleeper mock draft, updated each pick and invited the two guys to it so they could see the picks in real time
