A. Peavey Classic 30. Blue marvel speaker.

B. Line 6 DT 25 “Bogner”. Celestion speaker I believe. Made in China.

I have 3 examples to choose from. Money is no object as they are all priced 300-350. Give or take a few bucks.

Help me pick. They are all used. Bogner I believe is a brand or sub-brand on its own. So I don’t know if that makes this particular Line 6 worth a harder look.

Obligatory , where’s Fret ????

He needs a bat signal.

Option C. Spend a little more money and get a better amp than those two.

Get yourself one of these LINK
Great tube amp, simple as hell. From everything you say you like, you will love that amp.

The line 6 looks badass and seems more rare. Usually I watch youtube videos to help me decide these sorts of conundrums. Also the line 6 has more features, which can be either a good or bad thing depending of your preferences. I vote for Line 6.

My lead guitar player has the Classic 50 as a backup amp and I think it sounds way better than his Blackstar. Good sounding amps. Another guitar player I played with a few years ago had a Line 6 modeling amp. Sounded decent, but it just overall sounded kind of sterile and artificial to me.

Now, take all this with a grain of salt as I am about half deaf.

I've owned both, recorded with both, gigged with both.

I want the Peavey Classic, hands down, no hesitation whatsoever. The Line 6 isn't bad, it's just the Classic is better all around. And simpler.

Thanks. What I wanted to know. You and one other guy say the same thing.

Edit and bump to add a third.

C Genz Benz Diablo it is 30 or 60 watt tube amp. Price difference again is nominal. And I believe there is a Solid State component to the "tube amp".

Which is to say "FRettttttttt!!!!". He likes the brand so maybe this will be harder "no" for him?

I prefer the Peavey sound too from my guitar players of those options. I play bass so what I look for may be different, but to me, Peavey makes some rock solid guitar amps/bang for buck.

Used. Amps. None are side by side. Not everyone wants you in their house playing piss poor guitar. Amps are heavy to lug around and not make a sale. And some houses I probably don’t want to be in.

Yep…and speaking of classic Peavey, I’m about to pick up this CIRRUS.

the Classic 50

I had a tweed Peavey Classic 50 head with matching tweed Classic 4x10 cab on top of matching tweed 1x15 extension cab. I loved that amp and with the 1x15 cab it added a nice bottom end. Sounded awesome and also took pedals well. You can play anything from clean country picking to metal with it. I downsized all higher wattage tube amps and large cabs a few years ago and now only have two low watt heads paired with 1x12 cabs. I also have a tweed Fender Blues Jr left which is another amp I would recommend checking out.

This isn’t mine but what it looked like. I removed the Peavey badges. Not because I dislike them necessarily but because they looked too futuristic on a retro looking tweed amp.
Edit- my memory is terrible anymore. I just found pic of my old Classic 50. It wasn’t head and dual cabs, it was first gen 4x10 combo with 1x15 ext cab. I’ll post pic if I can figure out how to post pic from desktop. Back in 79 I had Peavey Musician head with cabs that I was mixing up. Anyway, I recommend the Peavey Classic if you’re still considering.
