Would you be ok with 8-4 this year if...

1-We played competitive football in all our games?
2-The team showed much more discipline and cohesiveness than last year?
3-If the coaching showed up in a positive way all season?
4-If we see young guys step up and show us a glimpse of greatness to come?
I ask that because I think all of these things could happen and we still go 8-4 or maybe 9-3. If we go 9-3 this year, our coaching staff would've won us 1-2 games we probably shouldn't have won.
Not many appreciate the obstacles facing this team with regards to winning more than 8 games. I hate the term "moral victory" but given the absolute crapfest of a roster left by O-gre, I think wins/losses won't totally define this season for me. I fully expect to end this season with a legit positive vibe for the following season to championship-caliber.

I never want to be okay with 8-4 but this year I’ll accept it.

After the shite show of the last 2 years anyone saying no is a moron

Upvoted, but I'm starting a Fire Brian Kelly thread the first time LSU has to punt on fourth down.

Okay, I'll play into this because I am convincing myself we will be 8-4 at least. If we look at our schedule, we should handle all ooc games. That is not the concern. We SHOULD beat Aubie, they are a dumpster fire rn. I feel like we are in a better spot than Florida. Bama is an L. Arkansas was a close game last year. Jefferson IS talented, but they have no receivers. They lost their entire DL, 2 of 3 linebackers, and all but 1 in the secondary, woof. TN was 7-5 last year. They are in a similar position as us, and we get them at home. Ole Miss and State will both be tough, but we have them at home luckily. TAMU is that, toss-up game.
Now let's look at why we lost games last year. Inconsistent QB play, which I feel like no matter who starts we are better there. Horrid DB play. We have added experience in the secondary, they aren't world beaters, but they will play good assignment based football. Lack of a clear NO 1 receiver, Kayshon got hurt, and hes back this year, paired with the growth of our talented freshman class.
Bottom line, we have a coach that has won 40 of his last 41 games he was favored in. We are talented, and where there isn't superior talent in position groups, there is significant experience (DB). Our team will be well coached, and even in Ed's horrid roster management, we have the best WR and DL room in the SEC. If we hadn't been burned last year, you feel like this is a 10 win NY6 team. If we avoid the injury bug, we will shock a lot of people.

I would add get to a bowl game and win it in convincing fashion - vs a quality opponent — showing promise for 2023 season

If we win 7 I am 200 richer. If we win 8 i might buy some tickets next year

Lot of moving parts here. Ill probably be happy with 7 and 5 honestly just based on where we started this spring. But if stuff like our Dline gets pushed around or WRs cant do anything happens I will be disappointed. Both look to be one of the strongest groups starting the season. Bad Oline play would not be a huge surprise. I have us going 8 and 4, or 9 and 3, with a 10 win season on the table but not likely.

I'd be ok with 6-6 if

Any way you slice it 8-4 is positive. With what you described I’d be good with 7-5 this particular season. I can’t bring myself to be ok with 6-6 though, even if they played and coached well every game.

And therein lies both the key and the improbability of anything more than 8 wins. We can't sustain injuries at several key position groups are we are cooked. We are going to have injuries and other unforeseen issues. This tam is top-heavy with talent...no doubt. That alone will get us several wins. I just believe if we get all the pieces to gel and injuries are few and minor, we could outperform expectations. If we don't, I still think there's a chance to leave this season with high expectations for the future.
After '19, I think most of us expected to ride a Bama-like wave of success and championships for years to come. The rest is history. The dreaded "R" word is applicable this year and we should embrace it and hope at the end of the season, we are all very optimistic again about the future of LSU football!

Yes. The end record doesn't really mean all that much this year LSU isn't winning any titles. I just want to see a well run football program after the last couple decades of dumbass leadership we had
If all four of those happen it will be a good season

I would not be able ok with 6-6. Ed O and half a roster got us 6-6.
