A motel in Pelham, Alabama( suburb of Birmingham) has been ordered to close immediately due to concerns about public health and safety.

quote:

On Monday, the Pelham fire marshal and city leaders issued an emergency closure order for the Travelodge on Oak Mountain Circle.

The closure order stated in part, "On or about August 11, 2022, the Fire Marshal for the City of Pelham received a written complaint and notice of hazardous and unsafe conditions at the Travelodge located at 410 Oak Mountain Circle, Pelham, Alabama (hereinafter "Premises") and, thereafter on August 12, 2022, conducted an inspection of the reported property discovered conditions at the Premises which constitutes an emergency situation requiring immediate closure of the Premises in order to secure those facilities and prevent harm to the health, safety, and welfare of any occupants, employees, or other citizens."

How terrible of conditions must a motel have been in to be ordered shut down?

The ordinance clearly states that the number of dead hookers is not to exceed 13 per hundred rooms

Bedbugs.
it would be difficult for them to infest every room in the hotel. My guess is the sprinkler system for the rooms is not operational

I was picturing a Breaking Bad style crystal palace with 3 or 4 Wendys hanging around outside.

My guess? Bunch of locked doors to keep out crackheads interfering with emergency exits.

And E-Coli in the ice machine.
