Yes. If you don't rev it, the carburetor will overflow and cause the engine to make even more noise.

Had this little midget looking twerp that worked at hospital before I retired.Had a Harley, when he came through the parking garage he would rev it up until walls were vibrating.
He had a truck also-Ford Raptor. It was comical as hell watching him climb up in it.He really needed a stepladder.

Correct. Also applies to those that can’t operate a standard transmission vehicle. Males that are just ignorant of the manly world. I don’t blame women that don’t know how though.
I don't know what it is exactly... But to down shift anything properly you have to rev up the engine and let it idle itself down normally, and as you hit bottom rpms then you downshift.
Know what I am talking about.??

know several people who ride HD scooters and every one of them say they run the loud pipes and rev the engine at stop lights in order to make sure the cars and trucks around them are aware they’re there.
That’s bullshite too

How do you rev a Harley down??????
Posted on 8/19/22 at 7:08 pm to weagle99
I just thought it was the distended, bulbous, amorphous middle-aged gut bumping into the throttle accidentally

Throw in the Charger, Camaro, Mustang GT and Corvette

If “Harley Davidson” is how you refer to late 70s to present General Motors vehicles, the answer is yes.

Yeah but pretty much every other motorcycle group thinks that reasoning is dumb too. Had a buddy that ran a Moto parts website that sold this shirt to screw with them.

Yea you don't know how to operate a standard transmission.

Its true but they take it too far, I have two bikes and one is a bit louder than the other and I get a lot less folks texting changing lanes on me while riding it.
It is not obnoxiously loud just louder than the other, motorcycles need to make a bit of sound because they are small and really fit into blind spots and dont match the profile drivers look for, they don't have to be jackasses every time they stop.

I’ve been giving it serious thought lately of buying a sport bike. I know it’s probably an early mid-life crisis thing, but damn it’s been a hell of an itch I’m craving to scratch.
Me too. Only mine is an “it’s later than you think” life crisis.
Here’s mine.

No, we just like to be seen because most drivers don’t pay attention. All of us don’t wear white shrimp boots so we have to do what we need to do !

I love riding my motorcycle, a Yamaha Stratoliner, but I see no reason to ref it up. The pipes are loud when I get on it, but they aren’t loud if you are just cruising
I have found that a majority of people who rides motorcycles have no clue how to properly ride them.
The first clue of a guy who can’t ride- dragging your feet while going slow

Since I have owned two harley, 3 Jeeps.. and drove a Manual Cherokee for 30 years and my f150 I drive now is a manual. I'll go ahead and say: "Yeah, you definitely know what your talking about." Please feel free to offer advice to everybody on the OT.
Oh... BTW
How to downshift a manual transmission
quote:
With the clutch still in, give the gas a little tap to rev-match the engine speed to the transmission speed. The tap should get you between 0.5 to 1 RPM more than your current RPM to rev-match. Make sure you don't give too little of a tap, or else the shift will be uneven. It is better to give a tap that is too big rather than too small.
