MSY to NYC - Help me decide

We usually fly into LGA on Delta or AA. But in October two of us can fly roundtrip on SWA for around 35k miles or United to EWR for just under that. The United flights are better times and we will have assigned seats. No baggage fees because of the United credit card. I don't really like SWA. But, is the inconvenience of flying in and out of EWR less than the inconvenience (no assigned seats, not preferred times) of flying SWA?

I think EWR is more convenient since you can take the train from the airport to Penn Station. LGA means an Uber/Taxi and traffic.

Gotta agree with Zappas Stache, Newark is an easy train ride to Penn Station. Plus you can walk to Pizza Suprema when you get there.

I dislike flying into Newark on even a clear day, but the train is convenient to go straight into NYP. JFK isn't all that bad but it's farther from downtown and again another airtrain to LIRR. LGA you get to cab/Uber it and deal with traffic, but you're right there.

Sounds like you prefer United, but looking for a reason to get rid of the SWA miles. If so, and you're staying somewhere in/near Midtown, might as well opt for the convenience of EWR and taking NJ Transit into Penn.

LGA has a free LaGuardia Link Q70 bus that will bring you to the subway station.

I prefer EWR over LGA. Certainly not an inconvenient airport to get to Manhattan.
