From the Los Angeles Times.
Imagine having your team pay 46 and 50 million to a guy hitting age 39 and 40. Insanity.

I bet he plays under 50 games and by mid-season Street Clothes will be done for the year.

Those are going to potentially be some really nice picks.

He'll play 50ish or under anyways
That's the new NBA get paid for doing 1/2 your job or not showing up like Simmons

Davis is the key to the lakers, not lebron. If AD plays like a top 5 player they are in contention, otherwise they aren’t. You know what you gonna get outta lebron

Imagine being the Lakers the 10 years before LeBron got there
Giving the most popular player in the league, who just averaged 30 ppg, an extra 2 year deal isn't that big of a deal. If it was a 5 year max that would be a little different.
I get this board hates Lebron, which is reasonable in some cases, but he's still a top 10 player in the league and gets asses in the seats. Let's not forget the Lakers have been straight trash the last couple years of Kobes career and the 8 years or so that followed

I think there is a pretty big question as to whether or not he will be a top 10 player this upcoming season.
Even last year, he essentially played offense only. That's going to get worse as he ages. If he scores 30 and gives up 35, he isn't helping you.

Best case scenario for the Pels is that this forces the Lakers to go all in the next two years, making trades for long term salary and selling off future draft picks.
It doesn't work out, and Lebron does not opt in to that year, and AD decides to sign elsewhere, leaving the 2025 pick in very good shape.

2 Lebron threads at the top of the MSB board and its August....
What would the MSB or the Pelicans board be without LeBron?

The best case scenario with all the Laker picks is the only really good one is in 2025?
Call me crazy, but I think y’all had other scenarios envisioned when the trade went down.

We only have a pick swap this year and the 2024 pick that can be deferred to 2025 left. Its not like we have 5 picks left.
We also got a top 5 and a top 10 pick out of this deal already.
We are fine.

How did you get a top 5 and top 10 pick out of the Lakers picks?

The Lakers gave pels the #4 pick that year in the AD trade and last year's Lakers pick wound up as the #8 pick in the draft.

We’re talking best case scenario for picks as a function of Laker success/failure on the court.
That #4 pick has nothing to do with that.

Here is your post:
You are clearly referring to WHEN the trade went down, and the Pelicans got a top 4 and top 10 pick already.
Griffin gambled on the Lakers falling apart by 2025 and that COULD happen at this point which is what I was referring to.
Obviously "best case scenario" is subjective and I was referring to a realistic best case scenario.
A "real" best case would be the Lakers totally sucking this year with both Lebron and AD getting injured again, and winning the lottery this year so the Pels can swap and get Victor or Scoot, and are bad again in 2024 or 2025 for another high pick.
I expect the Lakers to have some level of competitiveness this year, though (even though I think outside of AD and Lebron that roster is trash).

Should have specified like I did in my last post.
The first one was just to say I think y’all expected better picks(outside of the cemented ones).
