TB Cheap Airfare of the Week- Nola to Chicago $78, Cancun $156, NYC $64

Happy Sunday y'all
. Been a while since I've done one of these and I'm noticing a ton of cheap flights for the fall (starting late August to middle of December). Guessing all of the airlines are noticing people are not booking flights due to saving money so they're dropping their prices.
A lot of the cheapest prices are on Spirit/Frontier or the basic economy fares on United/Delta/AA so just know if you book those tickets that some fares don't come with carry-ons and those will be additional costs. Sometimes it's worth spending the extra $25 each way to pick your seat and get a carry-on. Also, in a lot of cases it is easier to book two one-way tickets on different airlines to get the best price (aka fly up on United, back on Delta). So for ease, I'll post one-way ticket links below and you can switch the origin/destination quite easily in google flights for good return options.
Any questions or specific requests feel free to post in here.
From Nola to:
Chicago- $78 roundtrip on Spirit, $138 on United/AA/Delta/Southwest. Looks like these fares are good all the way through the middle of February. LINK
Denver- $98 on Frontier, $158 on Southwest, United, or Frontier. Looks like this deal goes through the middle of November on the airlines. LINK
NYC- $64 on Spirit, $168 on United, Delta, Jetblue, and $198 on Southwest. Looks like this goes through January and works over the holiday week for Christmas on certain airlines. LINK
Boston- $178 on Spirit or Jetblue. Starts next week, good through February. LINK
Ft. Lauderdale- $48 on Spirit, $178 on Southwest or Delta. Good next week through February. Not many dates with the $24 fares, but most are $44 so $88 roundtrip. LINK
Miami- $88 on Spirit, $178 on Delta, American, or United. LINK
Las Vegas- $132 nonstop on Frontier or Spirit, $288 on Delta, United, or American. LINK
Nashville- $240 on Southwest, $162 on Spirit. The spirit flights have a connection in Orlando so not ideal. LINK
Orlando- $58 on Spirit or Frontier, $188 on Southwest, $196 on Delta. Shocked to see $29 fares on Frontier, but that's very cheap. LINK
San Diego- $162 on Spirit, $206 on United, $215 on Delta. LINK
Cancun- $156 on Spirit nonstop, $286 on the majors. Didn't realize Spirit had a nonstop MSY-Cancun but it's there! Operates Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays. LINK
Minneapolis- $188 on Sun Country. Not great date availability, but there's a few decent options. LINK
Cincinnati- $82 on Allegiant nonstop . Random nonstop flight but pretty cheap. LINK
Charleston SC- $84 on Breeze nonstop, $182 on Delta. LINK

Good deals if you are flexible and can handle cancellations. Thanks!

Could it also be that third and fourth quarter travel is arguably the slowest time of the year?

Definitely true, didn't mean to sound as if it was only one cause for cheap flights but I'm glad prices are finally coming down. Should have clarified 'For those without children'

Yeah, and fuel prices are also coming back to normal, which is a huge help.

Question for you, and may not have an answer which is fine, is there a place to find out about future routes or rumors of added routes?

Sorry you are hub captive with AA :/. It would be interesting doing a different city every so often (say Atlanta, DFW, Houston, etc.)

The points guy blog usually has a pretty good list of new routes or cut routes when airlines announce them. There's so many routes getting cut versus being added that having someone find out all that information and post it in a blog makes life much easier. I'll see if I can find an example later today

Yes, it's brutal. I fly out of GSP, CAE, and CHS. Unfortunately, CLT is my best option for direct.

Just an update- Southwest added their sales this week as well. Too much work to update the OP with their pricing but it looks like a decent but not great sale ($138 to Chicago or Dallas)
