It’s light years ahead of where it was just last year.
We’ve got like 4 different walk ons that the coaches are comfortable with as third stringers. That’s never really been the case in the past.

They were talking about javen nichols ,or however you say it, being the punt returner. Just seems like the quality of the walk ons has increased. We’ve had guys earn scholarships under o , as well, like nick demas in 2021, Josh williams in 2020 , and Jared small a while back, but the depth is better when it comes to the walk on program

Even with the portal, this is another potential source of depth, which was under explored by Orgeron and Miles.
Some of these guys are very good on STs and their PT can reduce frequency of injury to starters.

I think that's because we are still trying to fill out a full team

I mean…Orgeron’s walk-on game wasn’t that bad. He had Jared Small starting before he got hurt last year and Josh Williams might be the most utilized walk-on for LSU the past 20 years. Don’t forget about Mashburn too.

It didn’t lead to any success, though. We just got our shot pushed in while playing walk-ons.

Yeah, I try to follow recruiting and kept seeing Williams out there and was like “ Where did he come from”. Glad he’s here , don’t get me wrong, but after a long line of great RB’s, it just seem to have fallen off, all of a sudden

Yeah that’s what I said in the op . O had a couple good ones but it seems like the ones , especially out of the portal, this year are borderline starting type players at a lower level school

I’m sure y’all remember Kelly addressing the walk on program and how they wanted to raise the level of talent there and I think he’s done that

I didn’t read all the way. I see your O comment now. Yeah, I think he definitely took it up a notch from where Miles had it, but BK, with the staff he’s put together, and the level of organization he has, will bring in some really talented walk-on guys.

And wasn't there that Rudy guy years back that did that thing at the end of one of those games. Was bad arse.

If that was the case then they’d be on scholarship if it was just about filing the 85. Remember that Kelly is still holding on to that last spot in 32 for this year in case someone big pops in the portal or grad transfer during fall practice

I don’t know why this kid is a walk-on but from his highlights LSU got away with robbery! This kid is really that good and had the stats to back it up 1100+ yards man!!I

I heard on one of the LSU YouTubes that we are at 75 scholarship players. That's crazy low for an LSU-type of program. With unlimited recruits this year, I expect us to reach for at least 30 plus a couple to a few portal guys just to fill out next seasons class. And then some will portal out even after that. Managing a roster has gotten tough and I think BK and staff have done an admirable job of getting a roster together.

Not last year. We lost all of our close games but the only game we got our shite pushed in was Kentucky because we were just not ready for that physical attack from start to finish. We also made a ton a mistakes and Kentucky capitalized on all. But we beat Florida and we were supposed to get crushed by all these teams.

If we had a full team in 2020 and 2021 LSU could have easily won 2 or 3 more games in each year. I’m not sure where y’all get this notion that we were dominated all year?

We got beat and played sloppy at times but we also saw some guys stepping up and playing hard for this team last year. It looked to me like players just quit on their team. I say that because when we put the younger guys in who wanted it, they played some good football and we almost beat a few more team we weren’t supposed to even get close to.

I don’t think people realize just how much we have the ability to improve with this new staff and new energy. It’s going to make a significant impact. I’m ready to see it on the field.

I watched all of his Junior/Senior games in person, I've never seen him get shut down, and they played Zachary, Karr, Westgate, Brother Martin Etc. When they played Karr you can tell Javen/Aaron Anderson were the two most explosive players on the field.
