Was in the marsh all weekend. Still have yet to see the first teal here in SE La

Haven’t seen any yet in Ms delta. Heard of some in NE Arkansas. Worried about doves for next weekend right now.

We don’t dove hunt until the second season. But have been seeing a good bit in the fields

We hunt the first day and possibly that Sunday. It is more of a family/friends get together.

Observed several nice bands of teal on the east and west banks of the river while fishing this am. Feed is pristine as well fingers crossed we stay hurricane free.

Any teal you see now will probably be down in Mexico by the time the season starts. So don't sweat not seeing shite now. I mean you really don't want to start seeing a big push now honestly.
The first wave of teal is always the males. They bug out of the prairie pretty quick after they get their flight feathers back in. They typically always move on a full moon too. The primary push of teal is always the hens and this years hatch and any males that stayed back with the hens. They hardly ever make a solid push until mid-Sept and sometimes as late as October.

The big full moon is supposed to be opening weekend. I wonder what that’s going to do.

I like it to bring birds; I'm not a fan of the fronts during teal season, just too often blows out more than it brings in, my log of over 20 years now says when the weather in Sept is really pleasant with north winds......we dont kill d*ck.
Last year was a good teal season for most and there were vids of swarms on Aug 15......its much, much quieter on the social media front this year, the birds are just a little later this year than past few. Should start seeing more late this week and closer to opener as moon gets brighter.

Lafayette Shooters had plenty this weekend. Just bring your checkbook.

I was happily surprised, brushed two blinds by Pt. a la hache and saw a decent number of teal. Not like it was last year, but they are starting to show up.
The water was up pretty good so they were all spread out in the marsh, but we had enough to get me excited.
The number of Mottled Ducks is astounding right now too.

Any other reports from weekend sightings? Haven't been out at all in greater Delacroix area lately but did get report of a good group seen by a solid source that way over the weekend.

On Catahoula the water is insanely high right now and you'd basically have to drag in a floating blind. 5-10 years ago there would be thousands in the double digits by now. Early teal will likely be a bust this year in that location.

Was in Terrebonne marsh all weekend and didn’t see a teal.
