I have several leases in Terrebonne, crazy that we never get BWT in Sept but shoot the hell out of them in Jan

Our lease is in bayou black. Every now and then we shoot some teal. But it is every hit and miss. The only areas that shoot teal for teal season that i know of around here is in Montegut. For whatever reason, teal pile up over there every year.

We hunt a crawfish pond in Lafourche parish and usually do very well during teal season. It sucks that it opens so early this year.

Last year all the guys in PLH did well, assuming your lease was close to the Mardi Gras diversion.

Used to kill teal in lake Bouef for teal season - but that lake has turned into waste land.

It is truly sad in regards to what invasive aquatics have done to this state and duck habitat. A wasteland is a perfect way to describe it. There are still plenty of ducks to be killed during big duck season on certain public areas but you have to be willing to get down and dirty to get em.

Giant Salvinia destroyed our property in bayou black about 7 or 8 years ago. 1500 acres of open water , completely covered. We didn’t have SAV for several years. Weevles and lots of spraying, we have it under control now. Ponds look incredible. Won’t have teal though !

How did all of you fellas break into duck hunting? I've gone on 3 guided trips by just luck, being invited by a friend and his company. I'm ate up with it now and would like to do more, but how did you find places to hunt? Is there an economical way to do it? I'd love to say I'd get to go to one of these lodges every year, but its unlikely.

I know I know. I don't necessarily mean cheap. I just mean, I've heard prices for leasing one blind that are ridiculous. Feels like I'd be better off trying to do a weekend once a year with a guide for $1200 - 1500 over trying to find my own place to hunt more than once.

Any of you fellas going to be hunting for teal season? I applied for the White Lake Lottery, but wasn't selected. Looking to do a guide trip now, somewhere in SW LA. But i want to hunt in the marsh rather than rice. Any suggestions?
Rice is usually the biggest teal hunts, big parties shooting into big groups. But if you want to kill em in the marsh, go with Doug's and specifically request marsh hunt, think they have weekday special for $150/gun right now. Ask for Rick or Isaac. Usually go with that crew a few hunts a season

join a local conservation organization like Delta Waterfowl or Ducks Unlimited. Duck hunting is one of those sports that you kind of have to be in the loop for. Joining a group like one I mentioned, you will get invited to go hunting with guys that have spots and from there you will be able to hopefully get into finding a place of your own. Where are you located?

If you have a boat and want to get into duck hunting get onyx hunt and go scout and work harder than others and you can do good. Most people don't want to leave the house at 1 am, get out of the boat and heaven forbid be willing to sweat when it's 30 degrees outside. Then come and complain about no ducks in LA lol. We are blessed to have lots of public access here in LA in a variety of areas. It is a much cheaper hobby than offshore fishing lol.

I see your point, and ive definitely hunted a lot of public land but he should be warned that surface drive boat races in the dark aren't exactly fun. If you're going to hunt public land in LA get ready for shenanigans.

Teal Season 22
Opening weekend Henning Guide Service at Thornwell Oaks.
Last year opening day 24 teal in 17 minutes. Other parties also limits but not as fast.
Sunday took couple of hours at different blind but still 4-man limit.
After opening I'll be hunting Holmwood area where they also had a great teal season last year.
Hunting Season and Football. The reason I work hard and love our country regardless of the BS going on in DC or the rest of the planet. I am at peace and close to the Almighty in the duck blind or deer stand.
I can feel it. We are close. Who Dat tonight, going to be cleaning the scatterguns and drinking bourbon watching the Saints. The world can kiss my arse for the next 6 months.
