Wouldn't the same argument be applicable to a gay couple denied membership in church?
This really comes down to whether admission/membership is akin to your example of someone seeking to hear the Gospel and not receiving it.

I'm of the opinion that fallible men are not qualified and never will be qualified to determine who may hear the gospel should an individual seek it.
