Thanks Again for all the folks who have given advice since the spring. The Airbnb I had booked went downhill, it was a new Airbnb and was light on reviews but over the past several months most people who have stayed and giving it pretty poor reviews.
I’m looking to book a new place, and have a great option on the ile de la cite.
I have mixed feelings about staying on the island, wondering if it’s close enough to random restaurants in such. Anyone have any grand insight.
The other option is the fifth floor walk up which is nice but long walk up/down

I don't know Paris well, but my understanding is that's a great location in regards to shopping and restaurants

I’m first time going to Paris over New Years and we’re staying in the 7th arrondissement at de latour maubourg. It’s really close to Eiffel Tower and some other points of interest. Great reviews across all sites and can be had for around 200Ish(us) a night.

You can’t get any more centrally located than Ile de la Cite.
You have to be very careful with apartment rentals in Paris because most of them were declared illegal after the city imposed restrictions a few years ago.
We have rented from parisbestlodge a couple of times with good results but they don’t have the inventory of choices they used to have.
One time we had an apartment with them in the 6th that was up a few flights of stairs but it was no problem.

I mean its quite literally the center of Paris. Great place to be.
You're in the center of everything and there are multiple Metro stops nearby (although none directly on the island).

Stay there, you won't regret it.
Even if it turns out not great, you'll get a good story out of it.

Thanks all, booked! The place we had in the seventh Turned out to be a dad based on a bunch of reviews over the past month, the new place is a little more but looks fantastic

Random semi-related story, I went to Paris when I was about 10 and the hotel we stayed at was absolute dogshit, got bitten by bedbugs and was miserable. Wish we had interview reviews back then.
