Husband - $25,000/year
Wife - $50,000/year
House Note - $2,000/month

In your world, both owe $1,000?

So husband has so much less play money than the wife, even though they're married? Yeah, no chance for resentment there at all.

Yes, in my non socialist world, both owe $1000.

If the husband doesn't like that, he should buy a house he can afford.

ETA: I am also of the mind that all income in a marriage belongs to both couples, so there's that. Regardless if it sits in separate accounts.
