I installed one myself for the purpose of a bike rack, so no electrical running to it. It was easy enough to do myself. Only thing besides bolting it on was having to run a tap through the threads to clear them out from crud that had accumulated.

If you can’t install your own hitch you sure can’t back that trailer up.

Don't do it...it might look funny.

Many new SUVs you have to take a hack saw to cut a hole for the hitch.

unless your to fat to fit under the rear of your vehicle its 4 bolts on wires you pull through the frame. Easy job for 2 people to do.

Check out the Curt Mtg website for trailer hitches, I installed one myself on a station wagon years ago. You can read all the instructions online specific to your vehicle before you buy, to help decide if it's something you want to tackle yourself or pay someone to do.

Do it yourself. It’s easy and a good excuse to buy a torque wrench, Nancy.

Mine had 17 mm bolts already in the subframe rails for the hitch waiting to be used to mount the rack*.
Easy with the bolts already in situ.
* Also "mount the rack" usually precedes my delivery of a pearl necklace.
