I don't know what area you're in, but the restaurant business in my area has had a reckoning coming for years now. It is oversaturated. I have no idea why there are so many eating joints in the area, but for the past several years it seemed a new one was opening every day. First, there are only so many people. Second, there are only so many good cooks/chefs. Third, there are only so many good bookkeepers. When times get tough (and they've been tough for the restaurant industry since the Covid response dicked everything), a restaurant's survival is tied more to bookkeeping/management than anything else. If the person doing your ordering/planning doesn't know what the hell they are doing, you're done. With seemingly 10,000 choices for a meal out, you don't have a lot of room for frick ups. When the economy cuts your margins to paper thin, you have even less room for error.
I look for many in my area to close. Some were already struggling. Some were good restaurants not equipped from a management standpoint to weather this storm. Others should have never opened in the first place. When it all shakes out, though, we will still have more than enough eating joints in town.

Same here. We have more than any other city or town per capita. Its a tourist town but still has a restaurant and coffee shop on ever corner.

A small Kroger brisket, which is crap, was $75 last week.
I bought a whole packer brisket at Sam's last week for $50. Got it in the freezer to smoke when the weather cools off and there's football on.

those $10 Dickies pocket tshirts
You simply cannot destroy those things. I used to wear the button down ones with the pocket when I worked a dirty job. I still have them in the back of the closet. I can hold them up to the light and see through them now, but they are still whole and doing their job when I need them. You can't beat them for the money.

I just ordered some items online from Walmart, and their system is terribly inefficient and has to be costing them money. You get free shipping on orders over $35. I ordered six items total for a cost of $37 and change. These six items were shipped in three different shipments and one item was kicked to store pickup only. I ordered some A/C filters that cost $5.97. They were shipped separately in a huge box that probably cost as much as the filters. Two of the shipments have arrived, and one is still pending. I have no idea how Walmart made money on my order.

Several restaurants in my area have closed recently. These were established places with a decent following. They certainly weren't places that I thought were struggling. In talking to two other restaurant owners, they both told me that in some instances their costs have tripled year over year. One of these was a rural BBQ place. He's going up on his menu prices because he has to, but he's not sure if his customers can handle the increase. He has to go up to cover his costs, but he may go out of business when he does.
Sales of our catfish fillets from our processing plant have tanked. 75% go to restaurants. We can process 180k lbs of live fish a day. We have been only able to do 130-140 due to labor issues but have had sales to sell every bit the past year and could have sold more if we could get a full staff. Now we are only processing 90k lbs a day and don’t have the sales to cover that. If it stays like this too long we will be out of business. We have to drop fish prices to try to gain sales, problem is the lower price level isn’t profitable for independent farmers with these fuel and feed prices. We can’t let them go under either, because we lose the supply of fish and it’s almost impossible for new farmers to enter the industry due to how capital intensive it is and lack of bank lending.
It’s not a good situation right now

Got a few Ben Hogan shirts from Walmart along with a couple of items from the George collection. No problems at all. Especially with the Hogan brand. More than good enough for casual attire.
Also, their work clothes are better than some higher price stuff.

Good, people need to be more minimalist
People who buy their clothes at Walmart are pretty minimalist, likely by necessity.

It's what happens when you have the last four presidents spend, spend, spend.

Yes. It matches our kids hair colors.

Walmart is having trouble selling stuff because people can barely afford food and gas
When prices start falling because of oversupply that is typically called deflation, as your spending power now is increasing.

We tried to get an oyster poboy this week at George's. Manager said oysters are to high and he isn't buying them. Damn
