Kubota vs John Deere vs Cub Cadet

These are the three dealers near me and I need a lawn mower for 1.5 acres. I am trying to keep my budget to $5k. I want a welded deck as well.
I’m thinking zero turn but could go with regular riding mower as well. What are the board’s suggestions of the three? Also what size deck would you suggest for that size yard?

Check out the Ariens at Lowes. For he price, I’m not sure they can be beat,

I don’t think you’ll be able to get a zero turn in a kubota for under that. Depending on your use, you could spend a little more and look at scag or gravely

Zero turn mowers are like bicycles.
They’re all just different packages of the same components.

I have a 1996 JD GT 235. Been cutting 5 acres since that year, every year. Rough, woody terrain too, not no pristine greenfield.
Still going strong. All the same deck spindles and pulleys too. I think it has 700+ hours on it. Just normal parts were replaced - blades, belts, seat, 1/2 hood, voltage reg, battery, etc.
Bought it at Sunshine Equip. I don't like no Z turn. Looks silly. Operator looks like a buda up there on his throne. I ain't in no hurry. Ol school rider for me.

You can get a whole lot of machine for that much money to handle that much grass. If you detest cutting grass a 56" zero turn will make very fast work of that. If you kinda like it, get a 52" regular riding mower and mount an ice chest to the fender.
Brand-wise, ehhh. I dont think it matters much without getting into commercial grade stuff which you certainly don't need.

Don't hold yourself to that requirement. It'll be much more expensive for no real life advantage.

Not Cub for sure.
I bought a Cub Cadet ZT1 50" last year and love it.. No issues at all. What's the problem with them? Might not purchase again if you have information.

Cub Cadet was the worst lemon of a mower I have ever owned. I will never buy another. Just too many other good options IMO.
I don’t have any experience with Kubota or JD.
I would recommend buying from a place that is also a service center for whatever brand you choose even if it means driving a little further. You have the budget to not have to buy from a big box store.
I have a similar budget and have been shopping for them. Think I like the Bad Boy ZT Elite the most out of the ones I have looked at. Built like a tank. The Hustler Raptor is nice but not as heavily built as the Bad boy.

Whatever you decide to buy stay away from the homeowner quality mowers at the big box stores. Go to a dedicated dealer and get the highest quality that you can afford. I believe you would be happy with either of those brands.

15-16yrs ago I bought a JD LT160 conventional mower, mow 2 acres, now has 1,030hrs on the clock. Just usual repairs, routine maintenance, oil ,filters, battery, belts, blades. Still going strong

Pretty sure you ain’t getting a new Kubota anything for $5k, mower wise.
I have three of Them and they’re awesome.
