The 1986 Tamu game is one of my favorite games ever. We lost Wickersham, Hilliard, James, and many more from 85. Nobody gave us a shot. Hodson’s first two passes, if I remember correctly, were airmailed way out of bounds but he regrouped and we whipped that arse. On another note, Sammy Martin was fast as shite.

The next QB to do this isn’t even being recruited right now.

Next home season opener is September 5, 2026

My first game as a freshman and I was hooked. I think the flyover jets dipped in to the stadium. The bands went at it as well.

My first game ever in Tiger Stadium, I remember so many details about that night. Pregame with the band, fights in the student section. Seems like yesterday and a hundred years ago at the same time.

And yes, I remember watching his first pass basically land on the A&M bench.

Sammy Martin. One of his greatest runs was a 10 yarder for a touchdown I believe against Ole Miss. Must have run 20 yds side to side and made everyone miss.

I seem to remember Robbie Mahfouz starting that game at QB; he proved spectacularly ineffective before making way for Risher, who did little better in a 0-16 whitewash.

Wickersham DID start vs FSU in 1983. He was stellar at the beginning, and forged a 14-0 lead (two Hilliard TDs) which remained until almost halftime, before glaring mistakes, and wretched defense, kicked in and propelled FSU to a 40-21 lead, which stood until Garry James scored two last-minute TDs to make the score appear more decent.
