I’ll start, but feel free to add on. I firmly believe there are a lot of coincidences around LSU football, more so than other programs but I admit I’m biased. Did you know-

1) In 1959 after beating arch rival Ole Miss 7-3 while we were number 1, we went on to lose to them in the Sugar Bowl 21-0. In that game we had less than 100 yards total offenses.
In 2011 after beating Alabama 9-6 while we were number 1, we went on to lose to Alabama in the BCS Sugar bowl 21-0 and had under 100 yards of total offenses.
And all LSU's points were from special teams in both games- 3 field goals, one punt return

2) Billy Cannon’s Halloween run was 89 yards.
Billy Cannon Junior had an 89 yard punt return his senior year in HS on Halloween night before getting bought out to go to A&M.

3) An internet rumor said Cecil Collins had assaulted a woman the previous night. The next day he went to Dinardo to say it was not true, which it was not. The next night he apparently did assault a woman and was kicked off the team forever. Added note, he broke his leg (would be his last game at LSU) the previous year at Vanderbilt, the week before we upset #1 Florida.

4) LSU thought for sure they would get Patrick Surtain as their last roster spot in their class for 2018. At the last minute he went to Alabama, leaving an open spot that eventually went to Joe Burrow. If Surtain does not got to Bama do we get Burrow?

5) When Coach Bo Rein boarded his fateful flight for a recruiting trip from Baton Rouge to North Louisiana, apparently the pilot and all passengers quickly died from a lack of oxygen. The “ghost flight” (no pilot) turned and flew out off the coast of North Carolina where it passed near the North Carolina home where his wife and kids were sleeping as they had not yet moved to Baton Rouge. The plane was never found.

I wonder if we landed Surtain, Coach O would have processed someone else to land Burrow?

interesting question.

maybe not. nobody at that time knew Joe would be the best to ever do it.
We may stayed put with Brennan, McMillian, and that other dude (forget his name).

doesn't really change anything, but the game we played in Jan 2012 was not called the "Sugar Bowl"

Sugar was a week earlier and our game was just called the "BCS National Championship"

In 2020, LSU went to Florida and faced the #6 Gators with an undermanned squad. LSU almost fell short of winning but as luck would have it Marco Wilson throws a shoe giving LSU new life. Cade York then kicks a 57 yard game winner in pea soup.

Not quite how that works. 22 out of the 25 had already signed on National Signing day. Then we added CB Alexander, K Tracy and the last open spot in the 25 went to Burrow. Had Surtain signed with LSU that last spot would not have been open.`Processing is not a part of that equation.

Yuck never want to relive that fiasco in the rain!
But back to 1959 after the great 7-3 OM win we go lose at a mediocre Tenn team; BC swore on his grave he was in for the 2 pt conversion. Would have given Tigers back to back MNC and maybe changed the entire complexion of the 60's like included us with the so called blue bloods.
Oh and the 97 L to OM after taking down #1 Gators; then the next year we had Gators on their heels in the swamp only to have a 90 some yard INT return that turned the game around.

Tulane loss in 82 is worst point spread loss in LSU history, -27 and Tulane was 3-7 coming in. 82 team was 11 points away from 12-0 season.

They were the first football team to ever play on foreign soil when they played the University of Havana in 1907.

In 1972 we got an extra second on the clock to beat Ole Miss 17-16. In 2009 Les Miles gave them back that second.

LSU Ole Miss with the extra 1 sec giving LSU a chance to win.

LSU Tennessee with an extra play with no time left (penalty-12 men on the field) gave LSU a chance to win.

Also in the LSU Tennessee game, LSU scored on the first play of the game and the last play of the game.
