They had internet back then?

Of course, I was an LSU student and remember logging in and surfing the internet. It was 56K dial up modem, it was slow but it worked. Plenty of websites at the time.

2) Billy Cannon’s Halloween run was 89 yards.
Billy Cannon Junior had an 89 yard punt return his senior year in HS on Halloween night before getting bought out to go to A&M.

It gets better if I'm remembering right. Billy Jr.'s punt return for Broadmoor was against Istrouma, his dad's alma mater. If I'm wrong, sorry.

LSU best Miami twice on the same December night in 2005: once on the football field and once in the hallway to the locker room.

t’s true they couldn’t have processed anyone to pick up Burrow. The more likely scenario is they would not have taken Alexander if Surtain had signed. More than likely they had spots set aside for K and QB and only added the third because Surtain went to Bama.

Quite logical.

In 2022, the Yank Brian Kelly, led a portal laden roster full of fighting Tigers to another National Title. He would become the 4th consecutive head coach to win a national title at LSU. Which is an NCAA record.

In 2020, Trey Palmer returned a kickoff for a TD in Tiger Stadium.

The last LSU player to return a kickoff all the way in Tiger Stadium before him?

Eric Martin in 1981.

Penalties helped keep this so. There have been many a return on kick off called back.

Biggest point spread upset we had was either Bama in 93 (25-26) or UF in 2020, was also 25-26 depending on when you bet.

Also, Troy loss in 17 we were only 20 point favorite which puts loss to Tulane in 82 in some perspective..

Losing two games and playing in the national championship game, with one of those being in the final game of the regular season.

And the two losses being to Kentucky and Arky. That was a miraculous year.

Many names of other LSU athletes involved in tragic events taking their lives too soon are listed in the post. Seems that LSU has had more than their share of these kind of tragedies.

Here's a "CSB" on that one....At the time WJBO was the flagship of the LSU radio network. One of their TV promos for their broadcasts showed Martin's kickoff return. When he crossed the goal line he kept going to the fence in front of the student section. A few of us were hanging around the fence and you can see him 'hi-five' us in the commercial.

The year we couldn’t get the center to QB exchange right. It was 70s or 80s don’t remember the exact year but these weren’t shotgun snaps, these were from under center lol. We were muffing several per game. Anyone remember this and maybe the exact year? It was strange

Not sure if this is it, but 1974 we fumbled over 40 times mostly when Mac installed the veer with Carl Otis Trimble, who was a great athlete but not equipped for veer..start of the end for Mac.

1980, Stovall's first year, my FR year as a student. It was amazing how many times they fumbled. In fact, the first play of the year,80's,Stovall's tenure, was a fumbled exchange vs Florida State after they kicked off into the end zone. After a loss to Rice, Robbie Mahfouz started the Florida game in place of Risher.

The Florida game was in Gainesville and they had just cracked the top 20. LSU was 2-2. Mahfouz and Mike Gambrell, the center mishandled all three exchanges-which LSU recovered.Risher was inserted on the next posssion.LSU fumbled 12 times, losing five.....and won 24-7.

Some say it was the camera angle but when Auburn’s library, gym, chicken coops or whatever was on fire right next to the stadium and the game just went on like nothing was happening that was utterly surreal to me at the time. Today would likely cancel game on the spot and arrange for counseling for any students in attendance…

Losing to Tulane after beating FSU.

Ugh..my freshman year…went from throwing oranges on the field during FSU game…to having Tulane players like Reggie Reginelli throwing oranges back at us in the stands. Horrific.
