How many OL have started in their freshman year at LSU?
I remember how incredible the hype was when Whitworth committed from West Monroe.

Whitworth red shirted. Only left tackle in recent memory to start as a true freshman is Ciron Black.

Too young to remember whitworth at lsu.. but I hope so!
That would be nice to have a stud LT for 3 years and not have to worry about it

So honestly this makes Campbell a better prospect than Whitworth. Lots to be excited about!!!

Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I really miss Ciron Black being on the roster.

Hype-wise, yes. But let’s get him some reps before we compare him to one of the greats.

When the best developer of O linemen in the country is starting a true freshman O lineman, that should tell you something

Dellinger started 4 games last season.
I think Maea Teuhema started his entire freshman season.

If Will Campbell is an amazing enough athlete to start at LT as a true freshman, it might be interesting to see what he could do as a KO and punt returner... the same way that Trindon Holliday was sometimes used as a defensive end edge rusher.
Maybe some tackle-eligible wheel route catches.
I look forward to seeing Campbell score touchdowns.

Teuhema, now there’s a name I haven’t heard in awhile. Could’ve been a star if he got his shite together.

It simply tells me that we do not have someone better to start. It does not speak to how good he is or is not at this point. I personally wish we had someone that could start in place of him for the season, as linemen typically need a season to develop.

That no one is better at this point?

That's exactly all that means.
Hell Arch Manning is going to Redshirt at Texas behind the 2020 #1 QB Quinn Ewers.
Most programs don't WANT to burn a star recruit's redshirt unless it's absolutely necessary to win games.

Slow your roll. Let’s let him play a game first before declaring him the greatest tackle to ever play for us.

I read somewhere that Whitworth never missed a game or a practice lol. Work ethic unheard of!

He’s the first Will Campbell

Let’s see him play a down first
