For the bigger name prospects, I imagine a verbal commitment also comes with signing a NIL contract. Does that mean the end of verbal commitments flipping on signing day?

Why would they sign a NIL deal before a LOI. Another place could come in with a better offer last minute

wrong. Why would Gordon Mckernan (or others) sign a written contract to pay an 18yo kid based on a verbal contract? Should not be getting paid until they sign an NLI.

didn't A&M learn this the hard way with Eric Dickerson/SMU?

Probably the opposite. School doesn't get their backup plan so they come up with a bigger bag to get the guy they really wanted.

No, could make it worse. Can't sign NIL deals until you're signed with a university. Bids go up in crunch time. Happened in last year's class. Lots of flips.

Happened with Jacoby Mathews last year. LSU had pen almost to paper, 8&4 came in with a ridiculous NIL offer at the last minute…it’ll happen

Kids thinking they can leave after getting paid better think twice. Some rich people are connected.

For some reason I think I recall NIL cannot be executed before signing. I certainly could be wrong.

No. It will increase them. Look what happened with the Pontchatoula DB last year. The bidding war went on to the last minute.

Nope, see the kid from ponchatoula last year. A&M will have like 5-8 commits and buy another class come signing day. You don’t have to be good or recruit well, you just have to be the highest bidder. How can you blame those kids? A degree is a degree, in the working world, no one gives a shite from where. Get what you can while you can.
