Tell me how Entergy isn't a fraudulent monopolistic entity protected by the government.

After months of frustration over expensive power bills, Michael and Sarah Trahan decided to conduct an experiment.
They shut off the main breaker to a building on their property. The bill for that meter came in last week — they'd used precisely 0 kilowatts of energy for the month of June. Their bill? $115.53.
"We're getting all these fees — a service charge, a fee charge, a this fee, a that fee, a fee-fi-fo-fum fee," said Michael Trahan.

There's the $37 customer charge, the $20 demand charge and the $3 Entergy charge. Then there's a $38 formula rate plan, a $3 municipal franchise fee, a $15 storm restoration charge and the state sales tax of about $2.

Next they should try not watching Netflix for a month and see how that bill comes back.

Thats how utilities work, unfortunately. People need to pay attention to the PUC and put their nuts in the vice.

For the most part, Entergy has solid rank and file employees. Their operations team is decent. But their corporate leaders and the company as a whole may as well be Comcast. Everyone hates them.

That's a shame. When I was in college during 2010-2013, we wouldn't be at the apartment for the summer and the minimum bill was only like $50 haha.

Utility companies with their greedy *checks notes* 7% margins

My electric bill (not Entergy) shows zero fees or extra charges, just electric (kwh) based on usage.
I would try this and see what happens, but frick living in the summer without power. I wouldn't do it any other time of year either.

Entergy makes an excellent case for installing solar panels.
frick dealing with Entergy if you don't have to.

Similar thing happened with me and Atmos. After a month in which the house was mostly empty bc we were traveling, our gas bill skyrocketed. Made no sense.

I ain’t payin no fee-fi-fo-fum fees. Last I heard this is still America and Entergy can suck my dick

Entergy is a scam and can suck a wet fart out of my arse. They are a private company. The government then tells them its okay to pass on all of their infrastructure costs onto the consumer along with service costs.
Remember updating the meters? It didn't help save any money than the old meter. It also was either pay a fee to get the new meter or pay a fee to not get the new meter. frick them.

Ugh.
It's kilowatt-hour, not kilowatt.
A watt is a measure of power. Energy over time. Not a measure of consumption.
Nerd out.

Power companies should not have monopolies over certain areas. If people had a choice between multiple companies there is no way prices would be so high.

You can thank the City of New Orleans for most of those fees.
