I made a mistake. I was trying to reroute a coaxial line in the attack and inadvertently cut the thermostat wire to the unit on that side of the house. I didn’t have enough wire to just splice the two ends back together, so I had to run new line from the thermostat to the break. Once I reconnected the 5 wires at the break and to the thermostat, I expected the unit to power on like normal. Nada. I took the batteries out of the thermostat for a bit thinking it needed to reboot and nothing. The thermostat looks like normal and will even click from time to time, like it is about to turn the unit on but ultimately nothing happens. I checked the fuse in the blower housing and it appears to be good (not discolored like a car fuse when it blows.) I flipped the breaker off and on in an attempt as well.

Any suggestions on what else I can try?

UPDATE: it was the fuse. I checked for resistance on the old fuse and it came back dead. A trip to the auto parts store, about $5 later, and we are up and running. Thanks everyone for their help and suggestions. Y’all are amazing.

That's a 5A right?

If you have a main shut-off in the attic, try to turn it off and let it sit for a few minutes and flip it back on. WOrked on mine once.

Sometimes there's a delay between the outside unit kicking in and the inside fan kicking in. You may have to wait a few minutes to actually get it to kick in. How long did you wait? Mine takes like 5-8 minutes.

Not sure what you are referring too by the term “break” - you referring to the control board in the air handler and/or thermostat?

I’d suggest you double check all your electrical connections from the 5 thermostat wires on the control board and thermostat - maybe one is loose or just not making good connection when you put the new thermostat wires on.

If you have a digital multimeter check to see if the thermostat is getting 24 Volts by checking the voltage across the R (power) terminal and the other terminals (C, Y, G, W). Here a couple videos showing this LINK LINK

I'd replace the fuse or test it.

My brother in law was digging in his yard and cut a "root" to remove it. Unfortunately it was a water pipe. Shite happens.
