Look back at history and what the Nazis did when Hitler took power. The only part of,the gov they controlled was the executive. The. the Reichstad burned they blamed it on the opposition. They were off and running after that point.

I get what you are saying, but the Secret Service are a part of the Dept of the Treasury. Their main duty is to insure the security of US currency. The presidential detail is the most visible and most recognized part of the SS, but it is also the smallest division of the SS. I kinda think they're necessary in the overall scope of things.
That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to handing over the president's security detail assignment to another entity. Army or Marine Corps would be my preference.
