Nobody knew how bad the playoff system would suck.
A lot of people were against it actually. I think the main casualty of the transistion is the BCS bowls outside of the title game still meant a lot even to outside fans. Way more than the NY6 bowls that took their place currently do at least. Though you could make the argument adding so many bowls games watered down bowl season as a whole, simply making a bowl game at all used to be a huge deal but now you got 5-7 teams making it in now

Well no shite. Nobody knew how bad the playoff system would suck.
That’s not true. There were a few of us on here who were against a playoff.
Unlike College Baseball and Basketball,
Teams are limited to playing one game a week in football.
Unlike the nfl where you have 32 teams
In a clear conference and division setup to fairly place objective standards on qualifying for the playoffs, you’ve got 130 teams in conferences of varying strength, making the criteria for choosing the
Teams entirely subjective….well, except for historical bias and the all mighty dollar playing a role.
No, the BCS was not perfect it worked pretty well after 2005 when they finally settled
on a formula, with one notable exception.
Whatever problems the BCS had were only magnified by the CFP.
